I am not going fully sober. I am keeping occasional THC in the mix but eliminating alcohol fully. Not as a resolution necessarily, but I just feel it's best for my health at this time.
“Best” is a much bigger word that does not include “occasional THC in the mix” (which means daily), as well as a radical change to your diet and probably your activity level.
Good luck on your extreme makeover.

First if all, I support this post!
Don’t sweat it when other people give you crap about posting thoughts like this. Everybody is fighting their own battle out there in the world.
I know a guy who has successfully quit drugs, alcohol and then smoking. It’s had a huge effect on his outlook on life.
My theory is just to reduce, reduce, reduce until the final act is not such a shock. It’s working really well and at this point the only thing I really enjoy is coffee cigarette combo in the morning.
My body can’t even finish a third alcoholic drink in one evening. 2 max.
Getting older is in many ways a blessing. Teaches you to listen to your body better.
Best if luck in 2026 to the OP.

This is where I’m at. Looking like having kids isn’t gonna happen unless we adopt and I have a big fear of growing to old age where I need to be taken care of and having nobody. So I’m gonna make enough bad decisions to guarantee I don’t make it that long

Just hit 18 months. Feel fantastic. Anxiety is up a bit in general. Socially I feel a bit more withdrawn. My health and relationships are stronger than ever. Work productivity is there. For me I wish I would have invested in a hobby to do right after drinking because now I find myself filling that void with work.

I did it for 2025.
It wasn't as hard as you might think.
I didn't realize how much it was dragging me down.
I feel great. I'm in the best shape in 20 years.
Sleep has greatly improved.
You can easily do it!!
It's a great goal.

You need help dude. This isn’t normal. If doing this makes you feel better about yourself then you need serious help. You have mental illness.

That's because a bunch of people drink, do drugs, smoke and eat too much. If not, the average lifespan would be 85 or 90.

I'm on board, just haven't decided on a year.

That's because of the 'quality' of food in the US, not anything else. They do just as much eating and drinking in Europe, if not more, and live longer than we do.

I could probably reach 365 days, But they would not be consecutive and it would take me about a decade to do it.
But if the op thinks that would be good for him. I am behind him 100%.

Europeans do a little better. They don't do very well though. And they are not as fat as Americans. Maybe that's due to the food we eat, but I tend to think it has a lot to do with the quantity of food that we eat also.

As someone who only very seldomly drinks, I've never understood why people feel like they HAVE to drink in social settings. I drink water or maybe sometimes whatever soft drink is available in social settings. I'm perfectly fine with that.
Anyway, good luck to you. I wish you happiness and luck in going sober this coming year. Good for you!
Maybe the cheers emoji wasn't appropriate
