Before I was a teacher, I thought it was complete BS. It is not. I see kids go from staring at a wall to As with a little help. I can tell the second a kid walks in and hasn’t taken their medicine.

I agree. I had a young cousin who struggled in school and life. The parents tried everything to help and avoid the medication for some years. Finally, they relented. Changed the child's life and their entire family's lives. Grades soared and he could pay attention without a problem. The child even said he wished he'd gotten the medicine sooner.

If you can’t get the kids to make a’s without giving them a pill maybe you aren’t teaching them right. I know a lot of good teachers use rap music to inspire the kids to write poetry

Some kids do need medication. However, I am going to say about 50% of the kids who are diagnosed are not ADHD or ADD. Most just need some discipline, structure and attention. I am not a professional counselor or physician, but I have worked with kids for a long time. Large part of the problem is parents who don’t know how to be a parent. They get goaded into putting their kids on drugs by the school system or their doctor.

Now, by the time he gets home he's like a dog that's been caged all day. Which is fine with us. It also affects his eating habits, but he makes up for it on the weekends. We do not dope him up on the weekends, or during the summer.
And none of this sounds troubling? Feeling like a caged dog daily for years will lead to depression and suicidal thoughts.
Y'all are giving your kids meth. It will frick with them. If they abuse it when older, good luck with that.

That "caged dog feeling" is called ADHD, sounds like his medicine is wearing off before he gets home. Depression comes with ADHD, can you imagine being depressed at 7 years old because your parents are too hard headed to get you the proper help?

Perspective. A shitty parent is more likely to use ineffective means (constantly yelling, beating, "putting them in a cage") to attempt to control a spectrum child. Most people don't spend thousands of dollars on tests and treatments if they don't care about the child's well being.
All a matter of how you view people.

It’s sad how defensive you methheads get when someone accuses you of faking
Man, you never get out of character.
My daughter went from failing to principles list in the first year after her diagnosis. She wasn't a behavioral problem, just easily distracted. She didn't take medication when she was not in school.
I'm 57, never tried anything like meth or speed, I was more of a pothead back in my day.

Oh don’t forget if you have a kid with adhd, School requires you send him to a child psychiatrist every couple of years for test.
Depends on where you live, I believe. Back when I had a kid with ADD it was just see their doctor. It was far less common but things were starting to roll in the direction it is now.

Nobody is saying it doesn't work. They are saying you are creating an artificial drug dependency and not allowing them to learn techniques to cope.

Imagine being completely covered in ants... All you have to do is move around a bit and you can shake them off, but if you move, you get beat with a belt...
The ants are ADHD, stimuli is movement, and the belt is well... what it is.
This is what an ADHD child feels like sitting at a school desk. The lack of focus, anxiety, and impulsive behavior come from hyper brain activity, which can not simply be fixed by "coping" with it.
