I imagine JBE frantically checking in with the scientists every 10 minutes for vaccine updates. He’s only got 1 plan, and that’s a vaccine.

Two things would never happen in this scenario.

1. Everyone agreeing to wear masks

2. Governors/medical professionals agreeing that data is “improving”

“If you don’t like the mask mandate, then don’t like it. But wear your mask anyway if you’re going to be out in public.”

Mandatory lockdown

That’s coming. I’d say early October.

“Mandatory lockdown. We have to get the spread of COVID-19 under control before the 2020-2021 flu season. Everyone must do their part and stay home for the next 6-8 weeks”

Then they’ll mail out mail in election ballots around mid October.

“We can not afford another potential COVID-19 outbreak to go archaically stand in line at a polling center”

In America, masks have become a weapon in the culture wars. In Japan, wearing one is no big deal, and deaths have stayed low.

I chuckle when people compare the us statistics to other countries. Is Japan in an election year? Here is a stat for you: The United States has 4% if the world’s population yet has 26% of the COVID cases. Does that not seem fishy to anyone?

Japan Mortality rate 4.58% (and falling)

so, by what measure are "deaths have stayed low" ??

Kinda proving masks work here. Japan has 21000 total cases and 982 deaths in a population of 126 million.

So I guess it isn't just that they are healthier, maybe masks work.

Nothing will happen. We will be in this stuff for a while... IMO there will be zero football until spring. I’m not trying to be political here, but just watch and see what’s really gonna happen if some choose not to wear a mask......

the measure of what works and what doesnt is too subjective

I could just as easily state that, by in large, Americans DONT wear masks at the same adoption rate Japanese do, and yet our death rate is still lower than theirs.

We can go round and round cherry-picking data points to suit a particular narrative. When will the collective look that the corpus of data, and make intelligent decisions on that, instead of an agenda?

(it's never, BTW)

Link? We've heard the exact opposite in that it's extremely rare and unlikely this is happening.

He'd probably still invent a new way to blame bars.

The bigger concern to me is what happens if the #s begin to drastically drop right away. It won't be because the big jump was from all the large gatherings in mid-June. They will definitely go around patting themselves on the back saying it's bc of the masks.

This will give them the ammo they need to do this over & over again whenever they believe there is a viral threat.

I've seen zero evidence of this.

masks don't help from catching the virus, they only help prevent it from spreading

So people that aren't sick shouldn't be forced to wear masks.

Then it would insinuate the masks don't help.

What if numbers decreased?
