Yes I do. And it almost happened because of lack of actions on the part of the high school

Actions that are routine at all other schools, especially those which are private and are geared and recruit on academic success..and professionalism in handling those routine issues is to be expected.

Because of this girls actions, and the accompanying heat it will bring in that department, I bet it doesn't happen again in the near future.

Maybe a head or 2 will roll, as it should, IF a person paid to do theses duties didn't do them in the manner which is supposed to be followed. You know.....holding people accountable.

If there is a past history of the same behavior, then the obvious course of action is to can the guy.

Ahh yes, it's that time of year when top graduates from around the country announce to the world that they are going to their local junior college to study medicine or law.

That's how I know these guidance counselors are one big bag of failure.

When are we going to stop blowing smoke up kids' asses and get real?

So did he perform as he was expected?

Was this part of his normal job description?

Understand, he was hired to do this...it is a normal function of his job!

Yea, blame the kid for pointing it out...surely we shouldn't listen to her because she is young..

It's a lot of work to be valedictorian only to have some lazy counselor drop the ball.

The girl did ZERO wrong.

I don't really see what gives her the right to frick up everyone else's graduation for something that "almost" happened.

sounds to me like the school wasn't doing things the way her family wanted and they tried to get pissy with the administration.

I have no issue with expressing dissatisfaction directly to the school admin, but this kind of bull shite just screams SJW to me.

This. If you don't like what happened, go to the press, not cause disruption at graduation.

We did but they only wasted their time with the high(er) achievers.

Only 5-10% of students really need that "service" in most schools. The rest already know whether they're going to the cheapest/nearest state school, trade school, military or Waffle House without "counseling".

I'd pull her scholarship for the "how you gon' beat that" comment. That was cringeworthy.

Heard the little girl was in the wrong. Just a bitter family!

No character in the girl and its obvious the parents haven't taught it. I put a lot of stock in a persons character and smart or not she won't go far with that mindset. What happens in corporate America when someone almost doesn't do something for her?

I thought the same. I take it that she's from Blanchard.

What else would you expect from "Hailey-Lou" and the ivy tower nestled off beautiful Linwood Avenue?

Damn that's a lot of money she cost him.

Was rejected from a jr college and is still mad.

I'm not totally siding with this offended person at Calvary, but I believe strongly in expecting people to be somewhat responsible at doing their job. Especially at a private school.

my high school had a useless guidance counselor too. Luckily my step dad taught at another high school in the parish. She was more than willing to help me out even though I was not a student there. When my counselor found out she was offended, sorry do your job and I wouldn't have to go around you.

Everyone who applies to Baylor gets some kind of scholarship. A 60k scholarship to Baylor is nothing.

True. I was offered the 15k a year scholarship. Same thing that Tulane does. Make the price high, then give everyone a scholarship to make you feel special like you're getting a great deal

She should get together with Gravy and talk discuss the repercussions of "breaking rules that are clearly explained to you."

Our public high school guidance counselor was terrible. Every single year we had to change their school schedules because she felt like home ec was more important that advanced math or chemistry. I was pushing to get them college ready and she was pushing back that she had my kids best interest at heart with these bullshite classes.

Believe me the school administration or the school board don't take it lightly when you question them. So as a parent be active in your child's education. Know what is out there and available and what they need to do to achieve their goals. At the end of the day, the teacher, guidance counselor, school administration won't be there when your child finishes high school.
