I assume you are in Hoover if this occurred last night... tell those parents to let those kids be kids and go play with the other kids on the hill who are running around playing, hollering and having a good old time at the ball park.
re: So the valedictorian calls out the sorry guidance counselor at Calvary Baptist

Our public high school guidance counselor was terrible. Every single year we had to change their school schedules because she felt like home ec was more important that advanced math or chemistry. I was pushing to get them college ready and she was pushing back that she had my kids best interest at heart with these bullshite classes.
Believe me the school administration or the school board don't take it lightly when you question them. So as a parent be active in your child's education. Know what is out there and available and what they need to do to achieve their goals. At the end of the day, the teacher, guidance counselor, school administration won't be there when your child finishes high school.

Just got home from Gatlinburg today. Downtown Gatlinburg was just fine. Most of the fire was up in the chalet village area between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Had we not driven up the mountains, you wouldn't have seen a lot of evidence of the fire. They have a couple of new hotels right at the corner of the strip (Courtyard by Marriott and Holiday Inn Express). They have snow tubing at Ober Gatlinburg, can walk there from the hotel and take the tram, just book in advance because the time slots fill up quickly...we could only get tickets for 7 pm.

15 put of 46 schools in LP had damage. Teachers from our school, which is acting as a shelter right now, will be headed over to two of those schools in DS to help clean up today and tomorrow.
