I ask because I have family members on dialysis and if we need to run best to run fast if not then....

I check out NHC 5 days forecast and it doesnt seem to be moving at all or tracking in any direction. Just kind of stay in the same area?

The major hurrican thread is nice and all but kinda need to know how if this is a "close all business and run bitch!" storm.

If the bullets stop flying during the storm, New Orleans will actually be safer than normal.

I would say by this evening they should have a decent consensus on what the deal is. Seems to be a big rain maker so if they are in an area prone to flooding, just make an educated decision.

Dialysis depends on having power right?

I'd be concerned about losing that.

I'd head to the north shore at least. This isn't a Katrina that you have to run 500 miles from but it would be smart to get to the north shore if you're health is at risk.

Might not be too late to pickup a generator and surge protector.

I think the main concern is that the river is already high, am I right about that?

Should have a clearer idea of what will happen tomorrow

Maybe contact the dialysis center & ask what they are recommending patients to do, they may have procedures set up to make it easier for the patient to use another facility

It's still too early to tell. However, the river is projected to top the levee and if the storm lands in the right place, NOLA can see significant rainfall. If I were in your situation I would try to beat the potential traffic.

Isn't that only the case for areas down river?

This isn’t even a major hurricane.

The problem isn’t the weather. It is the infrastructure.

Your run of the mill rain shower is a hinderance to living in New Orleans.

Overtopping of levees now “likely” in Plaquemines Parish .. GOHSEP, LANat’lGuard, Corps responding pro-actively

This is obviously just for Plaquemines parish, but projections have gotten worse. If I had a family member dependent on healthcare in NOLA, I wouldn't take a chance

If your fear is levee overtopping in Orleans you should have been gone weeks ago.
