Overtopping of levees now “likely” in Plaquemines Parish .. GOHSEP, LANat’lGuard, Corps responding pro-actively

That's below the hurricane protection. Probably back levee flooding, not river levee.

No kidding, but we have reached a point where NOLA gets shutdown by a basic rainstorm because nothing drains and the pumps don’t work.

NOLA is screwed if even a small tropical depression rolls through now.

That city needs revamping of their entire drainage system and they need it to be done yesterday.

If your fear is levee overtopping in Orleans you should have been gone weeks ago.

Why? It's far easier to project river levels when you know the flowrate upstream. With the spillway open, there was essentialy no threat of overtopping. A storm surge is a completely different scenario

Thanks for letting me know. As far as my dialysis center knows everthing is a okay, they also have backup generators in case of a storm.

The question now is, do we need to flee to Texas.

Any city would have localized flooding with those amounts.

Well Scruffy is an idiot, so go figure.

While that may be true, that city floods for everything and it floods every year without a hurricane.

Nothing drains because the drainage systems have never been cleaned.

The pumping system fails because it has not been properly maintained and it is old as dirt.

That doesn’t even address the issues arising with the levees.

Everything about New Orleans is setting up for another terrible repeat of hurricane Katrina.

Scruffy will never understand why people get so damn defensive about their city.

Texas probably isn't the direction you would want to flee to
