Anything off Winbourne is solid.

Live as close to your workplace as possible and spend as little time in the car as you can.

My advice would be to seriously reconsider your decision to move to Baton Rouge. It is the definition of a city headed in the wrong direction.

Thanks for all the genuine responses. A little more info... She is taking a job at OLOL and I work offshore on rotational schedule. Kids are about 3 to 4 years out if all goes well. We plan to move out of state in approximately 10 years. We have talked about renting for 6 months to a year to get a feel of the city and then looking at buying a place. I like the idea of Prairieville. What does the commute back and forth from there look like? And how bout apartments (1000-1500 price range) in the OLOL area or within 10-20 minutes?

Why not move to Texas? LA pays people in the medical field dogshit compared to other states.
Seems like Houston would have wayyyyy more job opportunities for her.

That depends on where the job is, whether or not you have kids, and whether or not you can afford to not send said kids to public schools. If you do not live relatively close to where you work, your quality of life in BR will suffer tremendously.

If n kids and you don’t commute than no reason to go o Prairieville. Plenty of renal options close by. Houses in Tara, Kenilworth, Southdowns and plenty of apartment, condo options along Jefferson Highway all which would be a 5-10 minute commute for her.

P'ville is probably about a 30-40 minute commute most days. There are some nice apartments near the mall, Perkins Rd, Jefferson that would be pretty close. These are in your price range and nice.

You can stay at Staring Motel while you look for apartments.

If she's going to work at BR General, OLOL or Woman's than live somewhere around there. The crappy BR traffic can be somewhat avoided if you just live close to work. You'll likely have to pay for private school if you stay and eventually have kids. You can always just move to the burbs or go the magnet route if you don't want to. Some of the better public school districts in LA are in the BR suburbs. You just have to deal with the commute. Prairieville would be the easiest burb commute to the hospitals in SBR.
This is spot on. If you want to avoid the commute and be close to everything, live in town. You will pay for private schooling tho most likely. Or live in the burbs and prepare yourself for the traffic.

I would never move back to BR unless it was to work for Will Wade
