Some really messed up stuff went down long before I was hired, and its easily in my best interest to get the hell out before I become tied with these scandals.

Whenever you are in line at Whole Foods and see your employer being destroyed on the cover of a reputable magazine, it's time to run.

Other than find a new job (which I've been doing for weeks), how else can I distance myself from this place?

Well it sounds like a big company so why not just say who you work for?

Unless you're on the board or in the highest levels of management of what I assume is a big company, does it really matter if you have to distance yourself? You're on the right track just looking for a new job... Am I missing something?

Unless you had a part in the messed up stuff, I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck

Really? It's finest? I feel like I've seen better.

It's not an organization that anyone would even recognize. I'm not breaking crazy news on a Fortune 500 company or anything. But it's where I work and major news networks have exposed some stuff that is really, really disturbing so I want to GTFO.

Several questions that may clarify some things:
1. How bad is the company really doing? Is it just an article written by some low-level reporter trying to make a good story?

2. Are you in an upper level position that what is specifically mentioned in the magazine will affect your career?

I hope everything works out for you. Maybe you could move on back down to Louisiana?

ETA: I'll second what these other guys are saying. Don't quit until you have something lined up, even if it sucks for the next month.

please say you already got another job, right?

if not, screw quitting til you do.

and NEVER mention these rumors or the ceo getting

raked over the coals etc

I think you are over reacting, and will be sorry if you just walk without a safety net first.

The worst thing you can do to attract future employers is to be unemployed, regardless of the situation.

I'm upper management and attended a conference on this very thing across the country this past week. Humor me when I say don't quit your job until you have another one.

Seems pretty foolish.

If the company is big enough to actually be on the cover of a magazine there are likely multiple levels of management above you, so who cares?

Why wouldn't you try to find a new job before quitting? You still have to put this mythical company on your resume, and quitting out of the blue looks bad.

But you're probably FOS, so it least finish the bedtime story for us.
