Not sure how I feel about them charging me $78 day for tips regardless of how well I’m served.
I’m not upset over the amount, just feel odd about the auto nature instead of performance award method

Is this true and is it legal?

The cheap bastards on Carnival cruises don't tip otherwise.

Just be thankful you survived your hellship experience.

Yes. When you are checking in right before you board, they tell you this.
People have not been tipping at all for years, and this is what we've come to.

Not sure why people still put their bank accounts through this

Just unzip your fanny pack and pay the man

Never been on a cruise but $78 a day for three meals and a shite load of drinks doesn't sound that crazy. Assuming you're also not leaving cash tips.

I thought the service on my cruise was great. They brought me a new roll of toilet paper anytime I needed one after catching salmonella from the chocolate fountain.

$78 seems a bit much from my memory.
I seem to recall being able to opt out of the automatic gratuity.

How many people? 78 a day is higher than concierge on a lux line. Disney Cruise lines is 16pp per day. NCL I believe is 14.

Wife and I going on a 7 day cruise next week. I pre-paid tips at $216 total!

Are you cruising NCL and factoring in drink package or something?
