Had an extraction and implant last year following a head but from my 3 year old and it was the easiest procedure I’ve ever had done. Not sure I would’ve done it without sedation though. Minimal pain and basically back to my normal diet within 2-3 days. Basically took the best nap of my life and woke up then went home and took the second best nap of my life. It can vary depending on what tooth they have to extract and my oral surgeon told me the one positive of all of it was my tooth was ideal for very little pain and slim chance of complications.

And they sent his arse home with Motrin.

He mentioned Norco but I didn’t want actual pain meds. Didn’t want to get hooked on them.

Sounds like what I went through with my wisdom teeth. The bottom ones had cavities and the dentist was worried about them breaking in my mouth. Plus they rooted around my jaw bone.

Still the worst part was she kept pinching my lips against my teeth and I had no idea how to tell her

A little tweak on the nipple would get her attention.

I need to get a tooth pulled currently...as you say, there is not really pain but what you feel is like a lot of pressure. It is a damn weird sensation. What bothers me most is all of the twisting, pulling, and the tooth cracking in the pliers.

Things have changed since I got my wisdom teeth out back in the day. Gas for the procedure and 30 Percodan for the after.

This was me 2 years ago, except they won't prescribe opiates anymore. Recovery sucked.

Yikes.

I’ve had three done and they did the extraction and bone graft, stitched me up and let the bone heal for three months, then screwed in the post. I would screw up the bone if I did it all at once. It wasn’t pleasant, but my periodontist doesn’t skimp on the nitrous.

Norco is weak, doesn't do crap for me.

For tooth pain Tylenol plus Ibuprofen works amazingly well.

You have to be pretty weak to get hooked on Norco... I'll take the strongest thing they will give, but I was on hydromorphone for a few months at one time. Doctor was shocked I was awake at one point, he had me on a benzo with Hydromorphone and thought I would be OUT, but I was awake, so he gave me something to help me rest...

haven’t taken any of the 800mg of ibuprofen, yet, but I might come bed time.

You’re to regret that in the morning if you hadn’t. It’s gonna be hard to catch back if you wait

I'm having to do this soon, the mask helps.

My son and I were wrestling in the pool, his head hit me in the mouth and broke a crown off at the gum line.

I did it with just the shot. No gas. It’s not that bad. They really do get in there and torque down when they’re screwing in the implant. Interesting sounds and feeling.

If you break your clot, wet a bag of tea and smash it in the gap to control bleeding.

Same, and I found out that if I ever lose my legs, I’ll still have the ability to walk.
The first 2 came out easy but the dentist broke a sweat on the other 2. He wanted to space mine out but I insisted on having them all pulled on the same visit. “Ok macho man”. Uh, no, I want this done today so I don’t have to go through torture twice.

Update: Day 2

took the Ibuprofen/Tylenol last night like you guys said, and I have to say i essentially have no pain this morning. i'm still bleeding but it's light pink so i don't think it's too much of an issue right now. again, the hard part is making sure to keep it clean for awhile and i don't touch it with food or anything else.

i have had pieces of the bone graft come out. might've been from slipping out during the application process. don't really know if it's mine from driling out the hole or some dead guys bone. kinda weird to think about.

Did they not sew you up properly? Did you use the cow/pig bone? That's what I got

I may have to have this done before too long, so I am following keenly.

Let it heal completely before you have a cigar. I know that sucks, but we do what we have to do.
