You are right, they aren't as high brow and sophisticated as buckets of KFC in the Grove.

These two unfortunate souls that I know inadvertently put a face on the legend. Snapped at an Auburn tailgate tent awhile back when LSU came to Auburn. They still catch hell for it every season when the game rolls around.

I used to peel the cornbread off the tip of the corndog and just hold it and not eat it and see what people would say.

Why would you call LSU fans corndogs"

The reason is, someone called y'all corndogs, and you got mad. And when you get mad at a nickname, it sticks like glue. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. It got a reaction. So now, you're stuck with it.

How did y'all not learn this shite in high school?

I would've assumed in Southern Louisiana, you would dip then in Mayo. I've never seen a place that uses so much Mayo.

I once got a meatball po'boy from a place in Metairie. It had equal parts marinara and Mayo.

Your own fault, should have gotten a shrimp or oyster. Or combo of both.

Seems like a "school lunch" type of thing. Like everyone has been given one or offered at some point.

Yes this is true except it was Ole Miss that took a hold of it snd ran. It happened when I was in school. I remember the prevailing thought was because the campus smelled like a carnival on gameday because of all the fried food. And corndogs are a particularly "low-brow" and "simple-man" type food, it was thought to fit for that reason also.

Just came to become "LSU fans smell like corndogs". And then Katy Perry agreed.

sorry little reb, it was definitely an internet thing started by an Auburn fan long before it took hold in the real world. The guy you're responding to is 100% right. It started off as a Nebraska thing that an Auburn fan copied and it stuck.
