This is the issue.
Government backed student loans have allowed these universities to run like a private business with free guaranteed money. In order to keep expanding they have to devalue their product to keep their expansions funded.

LSU should have been buying up all of the land around campus for the last 40 years, either directly or partnering with developers.
It’s not too late to start.
That’s the first step.
Next is to use political influence and power to pressure the City of Baton Rouge to get a handle on the crime problem. I would threaten to have more neutral site games if things don’t change. See how quick businesses react to that.
