I bring home like $4,800 a month. I’m single, no kids and live like a king, imo. Don’t want for anything and pretty much do whatever I want.

a lot of folks don't realize how easy it is to live well if you were smart enough not to knock anybody up or sink yourself in to debt.

I don’t have a budget. I know I spend at least 10k between bills and bullshite each month.

Wife spends $2500 for mortgage and the rest of the bills. I have $500 a month in bills for car insurance, gym, and home alarm. I pay $1000 a month for my F-250 and about 5k a month for hunting, fishing, drinking eating out, and other random shite.

Theres a problem in there somewhere

Yeah. Apparently his wife has her own house.

I just ran my budget numbers last night.

About 1/3 of my take home pay covers all of my necessities each month. The remaining 2/3 goes to savings and fun.

Refired, and you’re financing a vehicle? I feel sorry for you.

Rent in a major city is our only big expense (2900) a month. Bring home 12k , could easily get by on 5k if needed as we have no debt.... our 2 year old actually saves us money as we never leave the house for fun anymore lol.

Financing a vehicle depends on the rate and term and that's it. Working, not working, etc doesn't affect the decision to finance or not finance. Now, not purchasing the car altogether is an option, once you've decided to purchase, financing often makes far more sense.

Is vastly different from

how much do I need to meet my obligations and live comfortably in my neck of the woods

I say this because most people would LIKE, as you put it, to live a lifestyle beyond the one they currently can afford.

Dave Ramsey and I disagree. I don’t believe in financing anything that typically depreciates in value, and I don’t want a financier dictating the amount of a deductible on my insurance. Furthermore, I can opt out of comp and collision insurance as I see fit.

Our combined income last year was just over $250K . We live pretty damn good. We could be happy with FAR less if we had to though.

Yeah this makes a lot of sense.

I just bought the wife a new vehicle, I'm retired. I have excellent credit, so we were offered 1.9% interest on a car note. I could have written a check for the entire amount. But if instead I finance the vehicle and put the cash into the stock market, I come out ahead.

Also, let's be real, stats prove that the overwhelming majority of Americans can't afford to pay cash for an F250 anyway.

You spend $5K a month on entertainment? LOL come on, if you're going to tell a lie at least make it have some possibility of being true.

I have 2 rental homes. I rent them both out for $400 a month. They are just older decent homes on regular sized town lots, nothing special, but a family of 3 could be comfortable enough in either of them, or 14 Mexicans if I'm not paying attention to who moves in
