So how can the masses that live in EBR complain about things when voter turnout is 26%?

2 major taxes on the ballot and less than 27% of the registered voters came out and had their voices heard?

Regardless if you supported or opposed those taxes, that’s pathetic.

If 74% of the voters had better things to do than take 10 minutes out of their busy saturday to have their voices heard, then people must really be content in the parish

I knew turnout would be very low. They seem to slip taxes in on those types of elections too.

Absolutely agree. I make it a point to vote every time. The elections like the one yesterday never generate the turnout. It’s been suggested in other threads but I would love taxing measures by the parish or state be required to be on elections we know will have the higher turnouts.

Obviously that doesn’t address the lack of voter turnout. It’s something we take for granted in the US. People don’t take it seriously.

60% don’t even pay taxes so it’s really not that bad.

I haven’t bothered to cast a vote since 1998. My one vote won’t matter and I’m too busy.

voter apathy Is real, but if people truly cared or wanted change or wanted their voices heard, it shouldn’t matter what month the election took place.

There really is no excuse for a 26% voter turnout when you have serious tax measures on a ballot

I was gonna vote no but it seemed like they were going to pass and I wanted to be on the winning side. I don’t handle losing well.

You’re spot on, Speedy.

Those that didn’t vote will be bitching about their high tax bill.

Urban people are usually busy with soccer on the weekends. That or doing things around the yard. It's one of the perks of living outside the city.

I voted at 6:00 pm and only because my wife inexplicably remembered. Most people don’t expect elections in December or other random days and just forget to vote.

Seems to me the 75% that didn't vote have the biggest right to complain. They didn't elect these people. The ones that shouldn't be complaining are the 25% that voted for these assholes.

Lost faith in the system. A no vote with shitty candidates is more valid than voting on shitty candidates.

The people have spoken, they feel disconnected from the results
