Wait two weeks for the news to come out with the Sturgiss "data".

Whitey and their evil motorcycles.

there were at least 400+ covid related cases to the Olympics.

Fans or not, there's still 10s of 1000s of people convening, then spreading, with positive cases among them.

Lollapalooza: No rise in cases in Chicago so the event was safe.

Sturgis: those people came from everywhere and brought covid back home with them. Event was dangerous.

Selective views of what constitutes a dangerous scenario. Apparently a star studded maskless 60th bday party thrown by a former President was a covid free zone.

Lightfoot gets a bunch of shite as does the city in general (deservedly so in many cases), but I have to admit, I've been pleasantly surprised lately with the city's stance on COVID.

There is still only a mask "recommendation". And while some places have chosen to independently go to a vaccine only entry, everything is open.

Both Lightfoot and the top doctor here have been steadfast about not shutting things down again. A lot of media was shitting on her to supporting to go forward with Lolla and she basically told them to piss off.

Cubs and Sox games are at full capacity. There was a huge street festival in my neighborhood this weekend.

Fingers crossed it stays this way. But I have to admit, it's a bit like living in a bizarro world when then I look at my hometown of NOLA and everyone there appears to want to shut everything down again.

But it’s not like they had thousands of foreigners flocking into their country like. Normal Olympics.

I think they should have, but I’m also the person that thinks we should have no capacity restrictions on anything. The vaccine is available to anyone that wants it, let people live out their own decisions.

You mean the event that only allowed domestic fans. So no one outside of coaches and Olympian’s no fans from their country including friends and family were able to attend. Find a better example.

Coaches, officials, volunteers, athletes, trainers, media, contractors, medical staff, security, etc, with 430 cases between them. All convening from every corner of the world.

quote:

The number of infections among people linked to the Olympics has stayed very low in the village, where Olympic organizers created a bubble isolation system.

The low rate is why a leading health advisor to the International Olympic Committee has said a "safe and secure" games has been delivered and the pandemic has been kept at bay.

Of the 430 confirmed cases since July 1, only 32 were those of people who stayed in the village.

A total of 286 are residents of Japan and 144 from overseas. The largest portion of the total, 236, were contract workers, followed by 109 games participants and 29 athletes.

Over 624,000 screening tests have been carried out for people in the bubble system with the positive rate at 0.02 percent, according to the games' organizers.

The figures released by the organizing committee, however, do not include cases associated with the Olympics that have been announced by the Japanese central and local governments.

So as par for this course even this data is bullshite and doctored.

That was safe, cool.

A stance they adopted almost immediately after the Biden inauguration.

Good. That’s exactly what we should be doing. If a private company wants to put limitations on it, fine, but don’t mandate it. There is not point any longer

You won't get any disagreement with me there. Anyone with half a brain could see the virus was being used to harm a certain person's upcoming re-election bid.

We are on the same page baw. I haven't dissented from that stance. I'm just pointing out how somehow lollapalooza is a super spreader event, Obama's party wasn't, and neither was the Olympics.

Trump's rally's are, etc

Super Spreader events are defined from the media, for whomever they want.

People just need to stop getting tested.
If you are struggling to breathe and have to go to the hospital, do so.

Got the sniffles... don't clog up the medical system so you can get a nose swab.
Cases don't mean shite.

Cases don’t mean shite, but I disagree with the don’t get tested. A lot of places have gone back to office work, and you’re a sick of you go to work sick.

I’m unvaccinated and didn’t get COVID from it, I did catch a cold tho. If I can’t catch Covid after being in the middle of that for a whole day, I don’t know if I ever will.

Chicago area case numbers are up, but not as bad as you'd thinking considering the size and nature of the event.

Go post that to the loons at r/NewOrleans. They’ll tell you every new case is because of that.

I swear, those people are beyond help. One breath they say how shutting Jazzfest down is the correct thing to do and Destroya be saving lives and in the next breath they say that they’re not making ends meet because of their tourism job. You just want to shake these people and tell them “hey, the pain in your foot will go away if you stop shooting yourself in it!”
