What technology do we not have that is preventing us from going to the moon or prevented us from going 50 years ago?

Ask NASA. We're supposed to be landing on the moon any minute and yet no astronauts on board since 1972. It's because we don't have another adversary in a space race.

hard to answer since NASA destroyed all the original records

OP thinks the lunar module was built of paper mache and tinfoil, thus he doesn't understand how it survived the Moon's environment.

I wouldn't expect any great revelations from him.

how about your favorite government propaganda station?

NPR - Houston we have a problem

quote:

They returned again and again to that vast government warehouse. But then they discovered something disturbing.

Over the years, NASA had removed massive numbers of magnetic tapes from the shelves. In the early 1980s alone, tens of thousands of boxes were withdrawn.

It turns out that new satellites had gone up and were producing a lot of data that needed to be recorded. "These satellites were suddenly using tapes seven days a week, 24 hours a day," says Lebar.

And the agency was experiencing a critical shortage of magnetic tapes. So NASA started erasing old ones and reusing them.

That's probably what happened to the original footage from the moon that the astronauts captured with their lunar camera, says Lebar. It was stored on telemetry tapes, and old tapes with telemetry data were being recycled.

"So I don't believe that the tapes exist today at all," says Lebar. "It was a hard thing to accept. But there was just an overwhelming amount of evidence that led us to believe that they just don't exist anymore. And you have to accept reality."

"oopsies"

"we needed the space"

"nobody realized these tapes were important"

quote:

When the Apollo program ended, the factories that assembled those vehicles were re-tasked or shut down. The jigs were disassembled. The molds were destroyed. The technicians, engineers, scientists, and flight controllers moved on to other jobs. Over time, some of the materials used became obsolete."

If we wanted to build another Saturn V rocket or Apollo CSM/LM today, this would be almost impossible, despite huge advances in technology.

"We don't have the factories or tools. We don't have the materials. We don't have the expertise to understand how the real vehicle differed from the drawings. We don't have the expertise to operate the vehicle," Frost said.

First of all, unlike some other gods I could mention, I can see the sun. It's there for me every day. And the things it brings me are quite apparent all the time: heat, light, food, and a lovely day. There's no mystery, no one asks for money, I don't have to dress up, and there's no boring pageantry. And interestingly enough, I have found that the prayers I offer to the sun and the prayers I formerly offered to 'God' are all answered at about the same 50% rate.

OP swears the Wright Brothers didn't fly at Kitty Hawk because they didn't crash and die first.

quote:

Orville Wright was seriously injured, while Lt. Thomas E. Selfridge, along on the flight as a passenger, was fatally injured, thus becoming the first person to die as the result of an airplane accident.

Well...eventually he crashed so I believe in airplanes.

Of course he is.

That being said, being a conspiracy theorist has to be one of the easiest positions to take in any debate. All you have to do is ignore any contrary evidence by saying the source was in on it. Piece of cake.

Where does this quote come from? Because it sounds an awful lot like very similar arguments made about microchip manufacturing in the US today.

ok, I get it.
your reading comprehension skills are somewhere around 2nd grade level.

one guy says he thinks that maybe is what happened

CAD takes that as gospel that that must be the only thing that happened.

*** Landing delayed 1 hour - now 6:30 EST ***

So SpaceX sent up a NASA + Private company lander that's going to land in just over an hour.

I clicked onto a SpaceX Intuitive Machines-1 lander ( YouTube Link) Livestream and it's instead a Starship booster test.

Guess it's a busy day for space stuff.

Well for the greatest feat of mankind, NASA (or someone) destroyed, erased, lost, and forgot about the technology surrounding the moon landing in the 60s and early 70s. All we have left is a few pictures and a couple of clips to take as gospel.

The same group of people had no problems duping us into wars, experimenting on its own people, and still do all of those things today. But trust them that we landed on the moon.

Funny how none of the astronauts that we claim went to the moon were enthusiastic about it in interviews. They seemed like they didn't have a clue. Their body language is pretty damned strange for someone that claims they went to the moon. Its BS.
