The criteria for closing schools for weather has gotten looser and looser over the years. 10 years ago, they wouldn't have closed schools.

Indirect way of teaching the young that Republicans cause global warming and bad weather. Only Al Gore can save us.

Schools are open here yet the parents are keeping their kids at home.
Parents are to blame this time

We used to walk to school in the rain and the teachers would bet who would make it and who would not. Bunch of pansies.

Liberals pushing for the pussification of America.
Thank God we have TRUMP as POTUS to balance it out.

Open in NOLA, just a couple hour delay. More about the kids waiting at the bus stop, so public transportation.

Blame parents who file frivolous lawsuits and courts that allow the pursuit. Liability is typically the major reason schools have started doing this more often.

Here in Louisville we used to have “snow stops” where neighborhood bus stops were pushed to the main road in the neighborhood in winter weather. All it took was a lawsuit over a kid who got frostbite walking to the extended stop to shut that down.

What's frivolous about a kid getting fricking frostbite?

CenLa got hammered by at the very least straight line winds and possible tornadoes. Structural damage to many home and businesses, trees down, power lines down, etc. Their decision to close schools that came in the early morning hours was the right one.

On the bright side, my commute was awesome today without Aiden and Jayden's mom on the road

They ended up settling out of court. But, the kid wasn’t properly dressed. It was a huge bunch of BS.

ETA: Also, the snow stops were still less than a mile from their residences (the “safety” requirement in our district when it comes to waking to a bus stop).

They didn’t get to use any hurricane days so they are taking advantage of a f’n thunderstorm.

It could be the apocalypse and LSU would say they are monitoring the situation.

Yes, it has nothing to do with shite head parents who file frivolous lawsuits because the wind blew on their baby too hard. Plus the two hours of instructional time missed will certainly be a life changer for these poor students.

I thought it was a joke when I got the text from our school. I guess we’re going to do this every time a front comes through now.
