It's not a copperhead. It's a diamond backed water snake. Harmless, but mean as a snake.

This. The bands aren't right for a copperhead, which usually have an hourglass or "Hershey kiss" pattern with no vertical lines breaking up the bands.

That's a diamondback rock crawler snake. One of the deadliest snakes on the planet. I would throw your jeans away immediately. Do not wash them with other clothes or your clothes will become infected and the venom will travel to your skin and penetrate the dermis. You were lucky, but not out of the woods yet.

yeah i thought copperhead as well, but maybe not. a better picture of the head to see if it's a pit.

It's definitely a copperhead. You lucked out. I can't tell how big it is from that pic, but if it was a little guy, you'd have gotten the full blast of venom.
