Smaller kids riding in the front seat?

All bout the height....not so much age but I am purely shoving my logic.....not sure what rules are

The backseat window area is what was designed for kids to lie in.

I let mine start riding in the front seat at 8. Passenger seat has a weight sensor that deactivates the passenger airbag if there isn't enough weight on the seat. Think its either 60 or 70 lbs on my truck.

Very dangerous. It has more to do with their size and height than age.

I wouldn't do it. Period.

My 6 year old will ride with me in the truck, sitting bitch if we aren't going far. other than that, yeah he's in the back.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is anyway. I was sitting in the front seat as a 5 year old and got in a wreck. nothing happened to me.

I mean if we wanted to all be safe all the time, then we'd all wear helmets and be strapped down like a kid when we drive, but we don't. Are you saying when your kid turns 10 and you let him sit in the front, then you are ok with lessening his chances of survival in the event of a crash?


None of it matters if you get hit right, and that's just shitty luck. If you want your kid to be safe all the time, then you'd make him sit in the middle of the vehicle with a helmet on and strapped in like he's on a rocket ship. You take a risk sitting him anywhere else in the car without a helmet and babyseat like straps, whether he's 8 or 16.

My 10 year old still sits in the backseat.

I know, right OP? You almost never hear about a child death from the back seat or second row.

As someone said, the airbags can do more harm than good with short people.

The rule in my car is 12 years old unless they're taller than me (I'm 5' 2"). By 12, my kids and/or their friends were about my height anyway.
