My wife (no pics) and I are from Thibodaux and her family used to eat st Politz’ in napoleonville a good bit. We took our girls from BR around a couple of years ago and it was terrible.
My go to was Frostop in Thibodaux. Just slightly different from the others I’ve been to in BR and Raceland. Id eat there at least once every time I visited or passed through. Surprisingly their food stayed the same when they moved from the OG location on the bayside into the old Popeyes on canal.

Harry’s Drive Inn Houma was our favorite spot in the late 60’s -early 70’s.
Dupuys in Abbeville is still fantastic.
But, you can’t beat a cheese burger or shrimp poboy at Food Etc.

Mama’s Fried Chicken in Opelousas. Best fried chicken in Louisiana as far as I’m concerned!

Rocky & Carlo's in 80's and early 90's when I was a kid.
Rocky & Carlo's was my very first thought but I can go back to when they first came here and worked for a place called "Angelo's" on St. Bernard Hwy. and they saved their money and eventually opened Rocky & Carlos several years later and eventually Angelo's disappeared from view and shut down.
That place is an institution in Chalmette as much as Randazzo's is for baked goods.
And if J & M Grill was still operating in Arabi, it would be my second choice. It was a tiny diner that had maybe a dozen stools and a counter with the short order cooks, usually kin to Myrtle, the lady who owned it, working the grill and behind the counter serving. It was your typical greasy spoon, but operated 24/7 at their location near the railroad tracks in Arabi across the street from where the old ice house once stood.
That was my go-to late night, on the way home stop for some food to help with recovery................... or to get the workday started with a hot breakfast and coffee.

Paul's Cafe in Ponchatoula.
Solid place and one I would often stop at when riding my motorcycle on the North Shore to grab a bite to eat. I can remember when they had that old alligator right across the street in the caged off area with the small pond.
