Here's your suspect. Looks like survey work around timber.
ETA: chew nailed it.

I always thought that was bullshite until I got one on 49 between Alex and Laffy. Im still convinced its bullshite and they just pull you over and give you the ticket because how are you gonna argue that there isn't a plane up there radaring you. And if they really do have the plane up there I feel like to justify the expense they're gonna give everyone a ticket.

Damn...I always thought it was BS too, along with "monitored by radar". For the radar I assume the sign is implying some long range radar not the cops sitting in the car with the radar gun.

Yeah I have definitely gotten that one "Aerial ticket" where I was cruising along at like 80 in i49 (75 mph speed limit) and got pulled over by a cop a few miles down the interstate sitting on the shoulder (who I was going 75 when I passed and he told me "the Bird clocked me at 83". I just got the ticket fixed since it was in a Parish close enough to my hometown. But even still, I'm not radar expert but how accurate can the reading be from up in the air when the plane is going fast af. Unless they set markers on the road and know the time that the speed limit would take to pass the first marker and then the second marker. It has always confused me.

Edit: and yeh it definitely wasn't the cop on the road that pulled me over down the road that "clocked me with his radar". I am assuming that he was in communication with the airplane cop and they told him the vehicle to pull over.

Utility companies sometimes use small planes for inspection of their power lines. It’s a lot easier than having to drive to do an inspection

Yeh this is true. Also you see a lot of crop-dusters flying really low and circling back around Columbia/Jonesville/ in between Ferriday and Vidalia. Im sure in many more places around La as well. Some of them get really low when they fly over hwy 165. I almost ran of the road a few times trying to make sure I wasn't gonna get sprayed with pesticides. Been figuratively cropdusted one too many times to want to have to experience the real deal. Would be a fun job though I'd imagine.

This is exactly how it works. You ever seen those big white lines painted across the shoulder? They're in pairs, spaced 1/8th of a mile apart. The plane clocks how quickly you travel that 1/8th mile. I learned this from a state trooper in a defensive driving class I once took to lower my insurance rate.

Thanks for clarifying, I had a hunch because I just couldn't imagine getting accurate radars from a Louisiana police dept that was capable of shooting from a plane hundreds of feet up in the sky. Sorry sons of bitches. Defund the aerial ticket enforcement division.

A real life "The Crazies" situation? I guess if so, the plan is to follow the ancient thread and head to the moat guarded Tiger Stadium.
