Around the 3 or 4 second mark you can see her pushing the pot towards the officer.

By that time the officer already had his gun drawn and was shouting at her. We can't hear any audio in that clip since it's been slowed down considerably. Panicked people do curious things and all of that happened within the time span of less than a second.

I just can't fathom how you came to this conclusion.

She was cowered down and then it appears she tries to stand up with the pot in her hands and has it tilted towards the cop. That's on the video. Not saying what the cops did was right. They were in the wrong.

Stop trying to make excuses for this cop. It only makes the situation worse.

Frank McCormick sounds like a fricking idiot. 2 quarts of boiling water from 15 feet away is never ever going to be llife threatening. Doubtful you would evern get any type of serious burn whatsoever. Dumbass tweet.

This is not defendable in any way, shape, or form.

I agree. I'm just wondering where is the line drawn when one party makes the wrong move which leads to the other party making the wrong move. Is it still 1st degree murder or a lesser charge?

I believe it has been mentioned that it was the cops who asked that she take the water off the stove.

Did they also say to crouch down behind the countertop and tilt the pot at them and then try to stand up with it?

Cops aren't your friends. They're simply foot soldiers of the state.

Just as losing your life should be considered part of the equation anytime you perform an illegal act, so should it be part of the equation anytime you call the cops. A scared dude with a gun getting paid a minimal salary is gonna show up.

Well that would require having an IQ over 100.

Many, many times worse. She called police for help, and they showed up and shot her in the face.

The front door is at their six.

It all could have been avoided if their egos allowed them to back away and stand down and discuss options.

Have you actually watched the normal, full-speed video? I question the intelligence of anyone who has actually seen it and is still trying to find a way to blame her.

The cops were joking with her and laughing. They asked her to go take the pot off the stove so it doesn’t cause a fire (or something). She jokingly asks the cop why he’s backing away (after telling her to go to the stove) and he says he doesn’t want hot water on him.

She slowly, jokingly says “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.” She didn’t say it like a threat. It wasn’t sudden. That’s when the cop freaks the frick out, draws his gun, and tells her “you better not, I’ll shoot you in the fricking face.”

That’s when she crouched down behind the counter and said “I’m sorry.” She was crouched down because a cop just went from joking to pulling his gun and threatening to shoot her in her fricking face.

And then the cop actually advances towards her with his gun drawn, and as soon as she flinches he.. shoots her in the fricking face. Y’all really don’t understand why she flinched after a cop told her he was going to shoot her in the face and then advanced toward her, gun drawn?

He had no reason to draw his gun in the first place. He certainly had no reason to threaten to shoot her. And worst of all, he had absolutely no reason to then rush to close the gap between himself and the (supposedly terrifying) pot of water that he had just asked her to pick up.

Anyone trying to defend him based on a super-slow-motion, selectively-edited clip that covers maybe 2-3 seconds of real time either hasn’t seen the normal video or is, quite frankly, a fricking moron.

ETA: Link to the full video.
