Friend,
I wear a mask any time I am in public, whether I am in a grocery store, restaurant, or house of Christian worship. Masks are an outward sign of good citizenship, as they reduce transmission of respiratory illnesses. I prefer N95 and N99 masks as they both reduce transmission as well as reduce my risk of getting a respiratory illness.
When I am in an outdoor public space, such as when I am rock climbing El Capitan or Half Dome, I also wear an N95 or 99. Wearing a mask in such outdoor settings some mock, but one never knows when he will encounter another person on a cliff edge or around a switchback. As the ultimate proponent of virtue and good health, Jesus, I believe, would wear a mask in times like this one. I shall soon share many California adventures with you.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Friend,
I've been wondering where you have been. Safe travels in california, watch out for the piles of homeless poop as feces have been known to spread communicable diseases.
Yours,
Lonestar

Friend,
I did step in feces in San Francisco, but I am fairly certain it was canine excrement, as it was in Washington Square where many annoying dogs were playing.
I did play a round at Pebble Beach, masked of course, and detailed the trip on the Golf Board.

Work requires we wear one but dont actuallt enforce it so mine is a chin warmer. I play it by ear with stores. If they arent enforcing then I'm not wearing. Bars and restaurants here all require them when you walk in but then once you sit down its open season. Few wear them when they get up to pee and order and what not. A few bars I patronized have been nazis about that aspect so I quit going. I understand their predicament but IDGAF. I dont have to spend my money there.

3-4 only wear it if someone tells me to as I am walking into the business. Most places aren't saying anything.

I mean, pretty much everyone around here wears them into stores and restaurants. Our ancient governor has mandated it, so the businesses are complying with her order, so if you want to enter that business, just throw it on. I've been out to eat several times, and it is a little foolish. Walk in with it, get seated, and remove it. All the staff are wearing them their entire shift.
Grocery shopping or really any store, I put it on as I enter and take it off as I leave.
But they are pointless. I have worn one since her order started, and actually prior to that because my county mandated them prior to the statewide mandate. My neighbor is a teacher, and tested positive last week. Our kids were playing in our yards for several hours one day, so I got myself and my daughter tested on Friday. Daughter was positive, I was negative. No symptoms really.
They're not effective unless every single person wears the correct type and wears it covering their mouth and nose every time they are in a public space. I was able to go almost 7 months without anyone in my family catching it, but somehow my neighbor gets it, and in all likelihood it was one of their family that my daughter caught it from. I'll probably quit wearing one for good now. If I've truly been exposed, and end up testing negative in a few days, I don't see the point in continuing the charade. If a business really wants to say something, which most of them won't, who cares?

Haphazardly wear the chin diaper below my mouth, like most of the employees, If somewhere requires me to. If I go some place almost no one is wearing a mask. I take the stupid bogeyman protector off.
If you ask me to wear a mask that’s fine. But I’m not voluntarily wearing something that accomplished nothing

6. I am in the at risk age and have a young grandbaby. I do what I can to protect us.
Don't need a lecture from any of you about ineffectiveness of masks. Would you want your surgeon to not wear one?

But, if store employees aren't, I take off.

I think it's somewhere in between
I don't think there is a lot of data to support the idea that they make a huge difference on a large scale. Probably not a lot of data period.
But do I think it makes practical sense that in limited interactions they can lessen the chance of exposure to respiratory droplets and act as a social distance multiplier? Yes, I think it makes sense. So I wear one.

2 or 3.
Don't wear them and generally shop at places I know doesn't require them or care. But I keep it in my pocket just in case. It isn't the hill I'm dying on

That’s why I wear women’s underwear on my face

Asks to not get a lecture and then posts a passive aggressive hypothetical question that has been answered countless times in other threads. Just post your answer to the question posed by the OP gramps...

I would prefer my surgeon to wear a mask. Random people in Kroger who aren't cutting me open? I'm good if they don't want to wear a mask
