My family live in Slidell and it definitely has gone downhill. A lot of people do not know how much their elected officials sold them out to bring in a lot more section 8. It is going to get worse

The Section 8 you speak of will bring Slidell to its knees like it did N.O. East.

yeah i have nothin against Slidell i have just heard it's going way downhill
i actually thought about this reading the "murders in Nola decreasing" thread b/c gentrification has a lot to do with it and I assume once Nola East fills up (or gentrifies), the Dell is going to be an appealing target for many

Texas will Never have casino gambling, Fertitta has taken care of that issue. Left laffy after 22 yrs for Chuck and don’t regret it one bit. Live 5 miles from the ramps and can be fishing 40 min after leaving my office. Too old to worry about night life but it’s here if that does it for ya. People are genuine and friendly not cliquish like laffy, food isn’t a good but I go back to laffy for a fix every so often.

Slidell is close to Mississippi and that should be good for a few down votes. Lake Charles is close to Texas which is one of the best states in the union.

Yep. We are trying to sell off properties that will be most affected by it now. A bad run of elected officials and Katrina have doomed the area

The best public HS in Slidell is Northshore and it still sucks
Northshore High consistently cranks out more National Merit Finalists than any other public school (non-magnet) in the state - and more than the overwhelming majority of private schools.

Sulphur ain’t LC.
I grew up in Sulphur. That’s my hometown and I’ll always call it home regardless of it basically being a suburb of Lake Charles.
With that being said, I just bought a home and my options were Sulphur and Moss Bluff. As much as my emotions would like to have moved back to Sulphur, I just couldn’t do it. Between the lack of infrastructure. The businesses don’t update their buildings. Ruth St is an absolute nightmare considering there’s no turning lane. It’s still the EXACT same city that it was in the 90s. Same buildings. Same roads. Nothing updated and roads are terrible. Traffic has increased with the influx of people here with no end in sight. SHS is bursting at the seams. The quality of people has taken a nose dive as well.
I understand Moss Bluff has some of the same issues, but at least, I think, in the future, MB will be growing along with Lake Charles since it’s technically a part of the city. I understand that the population has grown in MB as well, but for the good rather than the decline I see in Sulphur.
I’d also prefer to send my kids to school in Moss Bluff once they finish elementary school (they go to school in Lake Charles)

The good thing about Slidell is it’s not far from the Alabama and Florida beaches.

It would be weird to me to not be able to take a quick trip down to Venice. I only go 4-5 times per year but I love it. I have the best situation too. My buddy owns the boat

Carlyss man
I’m not convinced that they’ll build a new high school (desperately needed) for Carlyss by the time my kids get there. Plus the middle schools aren’t the best in the world either. Add to the fact that everything south of I-10 is now considered a flood zone. Home prices have been exuberant down there too.
Last night was my first night in my home. My TVs aren’t even on the walls yet
