Slidell is just about the last town that needs a crusty arse casino in it

Slidell casino plan

It is all good when it is going to get built in Slidell, but I bet they wont get the lions share of having it. I would bet mandeville would oppose it fiercely but they dont care about slidell, they will continue to raise their noses to us. I hope mandeville gets 0% of these taxes.

The 2 properties in Lake Charles are amazing- truly a resort feel. They have pumped tons of money into them and they are a destination spot, especially in the summer with the pools/golf. The largest factor propping them up is the amount of $$$ coming in from Texas.

Exactly

Golf, swimming, entertainment and all in a isolated area. Both the GN snd L’Auberge have all that.
IMHO, that’s how to do it.

Uh, casinos are shite holes?

Having lived in Vegas for over a decade, I can attest that "subdivision casinos" can be a great benefit to the community if it is done right.

It sounds like they are going to try to make it a family friendly location with the inclusion of a sports/entertainment complex.

A lot of the ones in Vegas were really well thought out with providing a family friendly environment while catering to gamblers. Good restaurants, movie theaters, pools, etc.

If they build a 6 story hotel/casino with an adjacent sports complex, it will be a homerun for the parish. If it is a 2 story truck stop casino, it will be a shithole. Doesn't sound like they are planning to build a shithole.

Vegas = tourists...Slidell = preying on the local elderly or otherwise financially unstable people. But hey, if the rest of society is fine with that then support it.

I live in a town with two casinos and they are, without a doubt, depressing places. I get drug to them for dinner every once in a while, and it’s just sad. But right though, frick those people.

They are building outside of the city limits so all the money goes to the parish. Given the history of resource allocation by the council, it will all go to the west side of the parish.

But Slidell already reaps the benefit of all the taxes paid in Mandeville/Covington.

I'd rather pass a good time at the Silver Slippa.

And isn’t there a planned billion dollar entertainment expansion at the Beau coming?
Do you mean the proposed $1.2 Billion Universal casino complex being proposed for the old Broadwater Hotel site in Biloxi?
