Sorry, but there is no sleeping with a torn rotator cuff. Someone lied to you

I used a magnet on mine when I had a partial tear of my rotator cuff.Rare earth disc magnet I ordered from Amazon ,1” diameter.
I know it worked because I would take it off before taking a shower and go to sleep without re-applying it.Wake up in about an hour in pain, get up and put it back on.Little while the pain would dissipate.
The magnet didn’t take away 100% of the pain but it made it tolerable.
I dealt with that for 3 years, last 2 years I worked in ICU and close to a year after I retired.
I initially was going to have surgery but one of my co-workers husband had surgery and got staph infection in the wound, scared me away from it.

Torn rotator cuffs don’t heal on their own. They must be repaired. The tear will not grow back together.

I had a torn rotator cuff that required surgery in 2013 and prior to surgery I would sleep in a recliner with my arm at a 90 degree angle across my upper body to help with the pain.
If you plan on having surgery, just know it's a fairly long recovery period depending on the severity of the injury. It was a good 4 months before I got back to somewhat normal routines but still had to watch heavy lifting for a bit longer.

Bruh, just use a warm cantaloupe. Thank me later.

I don’t understand how these bots get accounts and bump random threads with AI copy.
Someone more tech savvy than me, can you explain how and WHY this happens?

Don’t get surgery on it, the pain will get better with time

Tore mine with nerve damage in my elbow 25 years ago. It won’t fully heal itself. If you are planning on throwing batting practice for a living or play qb, surgery is your only option. In fact, if it’s a tear in the top part of the tendon where mine is located surgery can do more harm than good

sleep on your back, possibly on an incline. Put pillows on the side with the hurt shoulder to help support it and keep it from moving.
I had shoulder surgery back in September... was misery leading up to it. Now it's just pain. But as Dalton said, "Pain don't hurt."
Here's something that I wished I had been better at... I overcompensated with my left arm while my shoulder was hurting or healing. And I ended up getting tendinitis and slight tears in my damn left shoulder. SOOOOO... don't do that.

I had a complete replacement a few years ago. Trying to sleep was very difficult. I ended up buying a wedge that you can get at any home health store. It helped, but you won’t be completely comfortable until surgery and rehab.

interesting time for this thread.
i tore a pec and my rotator cuff in HS in football. Pretty much the last play of my career.
i did sports therapy and it been fine for the last 20 years. this last couple of weeks my chest and elbow have really been feeling some stress and tension. I think a lot of it is how i'm sleeping on it combined with leaning at work and on car trips. i'll try the cream.

Schedule surgery. PT helps but it's something you'll have to continue daily for the shoulder to be functional and it wont ever pain free. Insurance usually requires PT first before approving surgery. Do that, then find the best shoulder surgeon in your area.

Those special sleep pillows were a game changer.
That space under the pillow for my arm is truly amazing

It's the reason we bought a recliner.

True that. Mine was long, like a year. 10 years later it’s still limited in mobility.

I have a bad right shoulder. It hurts like hell when I sleep on it. I sleep on my back or on my left side. Sometimes I sleep on my right side but I never sleep for long before I have to rescue my pain throbbing shoulder.

That is what finally got me to get the surgery. I couldn't get any good sleep for the pain.
