Going skiing with my daughter in a couple weeks in the Beaver Creek/Vail area.

Do any of these resorts offer lift tickets for just the bunny slope/beginner area?
Don’t really want to put her in ski school for the whole day, would rather get to ski/hang with her.

Just doesn’t seem very practical if we have to buy full priced lift tickets just to stay on bunny slopes for maybe just a short time. (Yes I know that makes me poor)

Any help/advice appreciated!

Usually lessons come with a lift ticket. Just do half day lessons then use the lift ticket for full day.

Yes you have to buy a children’s left ticket

Kid is probably free. The magic carpet lifts at Breckenridge are basically free for anyone, not sure about the smaller lifts that actually take you up the mountain.

The schools usually let out early enough to have time left in the day to go ski on your own or with your kids

If she is standard 4 year old girl size, just put her in a large backpack and sneak her on for free. Just poke some holes in bag or leave a little unzipped and she should be fine.

Magic Carpet! That’s what I was thinking. That’s really all I was looking for. I’ll check that out at some other places too.

i would rethink this in a hurry. put her arse in ski school for as long as you possibly can, and enjoy your day on the slopes.

Do the lessons and don't be cheap. It's for her own good (unless you are a certified kids ski trainer). They need the fundamentals taught to them.

Snow skiing is the latest mania among the southern rural upper-middle classes in desperate search of social media status validation.

There, I said it.

He's right. I was skiing at a young age and enjoyed ski school.

Ski school will be fun for the little one, and will enable them to ski a lot better than you teaching them.

A lot of resorts let kids under a certain age ski free. You, as a grown up, have to pay to play, even on the bunny slopes. If she is going to be in lessons part of the day, won't you be out on the slopes during that time? You're gonna need a pass for that.

IDK but when I was skiing for the first time and falling down the mountain, those little MFers would piss me off hauling arse past me with no poles

There’s a Magic Carpet type slope at the Bachelor Gulch area at Beaver Creek. It’s at the Ritz Carlton lift, and I believe it costs a lot less than a normal child’s lift ticket.

You can take the free shuttle at the Centennial area at Beaver Creek to get to the Ritz. Really easy. Great area to hang out, and your little girl will have fun. You can also buy a plastic sled, and she can sled in that area in the late afternoons after the lift has closed. Have fun.

If you're going to learn how to ski, this is the best age to do it.

Put her in ski school for sure. My parents dumped me there everyday for years when we first started skiing.

They got my brother and I in ski school at 4 years old and we stayed until 14 because we made friends and got coached every year.
Your kids will come to enjoy it.

Get ready to ski your arse off . Kids pick that up fast. Two days in and you will struggle to keep up

Call up there first. Last I was there all of the carpets were in the ski school only zones.

Just about everything up there is owned by vail these days . Well, not everything but it sure feels like it. So they’ll probably all have similar lift ticket policies.

And Vail is VERY proud of their mountain, so expect to pay for that. Wouldn’t be surprised if they told you that anyone occupying a seat, regardless of age, has to pay full price.
