She was probably thinking this and forgot you actually have to be black to do this, not just in the name of black people.

You just made me miss Red Wagon po-boys...know the place? Right next to the bowling center on Jefferson?
My dad worked at West Building Materials right near the Huey P for years and then moved down the street to Hill-Behan. I worked a summer at West while back home from college and spent every lunch grabbing a roast beef po-boy from Red Wagon.
Oh...and yeah, she obviously needs to be arrested for theft. Flying that flag is idiotic, but that's kind of the point of having liberty...the fact that others don't like it has no bearing on it. Similar to when some asshat decides they need to burn the American Flag. It's idiotic, but you don't get to stop them and cheer and then act like a patriot when your act is actually less patriot than what you just stopped.

Why did you just mention stealing the flag? She had a lot of other charges as well. You conveniently forgot to mention those to minimalize her poor behavior and breaking of many laws.
Your misleading post is disingenuous.
Anyway, she stole a rebel flag and had a bunch of drugs. What are they going to do to her? Make her sit there and get farted on like Joe Dirt in Joe Dirt two? She will not be made an example of, leaving her to conclude that stealing other people's stuff is OK.
Well, let's look at the charges:
quote:
records show her charges included
- two counts of drug possession,
- flag desecration,
- theft of under $750,
- criminal trespassing
- simple criminal damage to property.
Two counts of drug possession: a victimless crime for which she should have her drugs confiscated, maybe be issued a fine, and we can move on.
Flag desecration is an unconstitutional statue that Louisiana still hasn't struck off the books just like sodomy laws. The charge will not hold up in court.
So then you have theft under $750, criminal trespassing, and simple criminal damage to property, which are all running onto someone else's property, taking a piece of cloth, and destroying it. Anyone who thinks she should get life in prison for that is a moron.

I never said, or implied that. What I said was to say she was only arrested for taking the flag, when in fact she was arrested for multiple charges, is disingenuous and a misrepresentation of facts.
I also said arrested, not adjudicated guilty. Whether you like the laws or not, she was still arrested for breaking them.

And in the post you are currently responding to I clarified my opinion on all the charges, and I'm saying she doesn't deserve life in prison for it, since after all the original post I was responding to said she deserved 25 to life, which is absurd.

That being said, is flying the Confederate Flag on Independence day worse than burning the American Flag?
Maybe the guy who owns the flag was originally from Vicksburg.

Seriously did you believe that you were responding to someone being honest or someone using just a wee bit of hyperbole?

You do know that the American flag was flown during slavery, right?

And, there were "slave states" north of the Mason-Dixon line?

Just what we need, to spend 25 years+ of her living off of the taxpayers because she stole a flag.
This is your quote.
She was not arrested merely for stealing a flag. There were multiple other charges.
That is all I am saying. Whether you like her charges or whether she will be found guilty, what her sentence will be, etc. is irrelevant. You minimalized why she was arrested to make your point.
That is all I am saying.

Flying the Confederate Flag on the 4th is flying a flag of a nation that fought against America on the day reserved for the celebration of American independence. That can easily be seen as a douche bag maneuver.
His post had nothing to do with slavery

Confederates believed they were upholding the values of 1776. It was the second revolution, in their eyes.
So I suppose there is a historical argument for flying it. Bit of a political statement though.
