Very little crime as defined by the party in power in Singapore but way more crime as defined by most of the industrialized world being committed every minute of every day by that same party in Singapore...
Brings up an interesting hypothetical.
Would you rather live in the US which has more personal freedoms than Singapore, even though a good bit of those freedoms are facades at this point. OR, would you rather live in a fairly freedomless society with the guarantee of the surface being nice and safe?
You can catch a stray as a 3 year old child sleeping in your bed in BR right now because of a rapper (aka drug dealer) fued gone wrong. In Singapore as long as you comply that seems less likely.

If you are moving drugs in Singapore you know the risks.

I would take Red Stick every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I would never even have to think about it. SIngapore is a fairly decent place to visit, again in the same way Disney World is for some folks, and it is a fantastic place to do business if you do not have to live there...but it is no place to live if you are remotely interested in exercising your own basic human rights unless they align completely with the ideology of the party in power...

In Singapore chewing gum is a controlled substance.
Having a clean, compliant population requires tradeoffs. I prefer anarchy to control, as long as I can defend myself.

I enjoyed visiting Singapore, but I obeyed all the laws too.
Loved how clean and safe it was. Walk the streets at any hour without concern. Would move there.

I mean it's well known everywhere that southeast Asian countries don't play around with drugs. Even weed.
There used to be a competitor to the UFC in Japan called Pride FC. They turned a blind eye to PEDs but were Nazis when it came to recreational drugs.

Most of the US isn't like that though. And even with Covid and the Summer of Love and Peace the 2020 homicide rate was still significantly lower than 30 years ago.

Wrong person, I don't believe in government sanctioned executions. The government should never have the right to kill it's own citizens.

It's not exactly The World's Best Kept Secret that Singapore will hang your arse if they catch you will drugs....

Sounds awful. And the war on drugs would still fail.

Yet a heaping pile of folks extoll the virtues of Singapore as a business utopia. Folks who champion small government love them some Singapore...
The same people also were wont to say they were moving to New Zealand if we ever had socialized medicine in the US LOL. Bunch of morons....
Lots of ignorance in this self-righteous post.
No one is contending Singapore is “small government.”
However, your ramblings underscore the inadequacies of left vs. right labels. That’s why the political spectrum measuring economic and governing philosophies is much more accurate.
Singapore is both the most economically free/libertarian place in the world, while also being authoritarian regarding individual rights.
Singapore’s economic policies mesh with American conservatives but its policies of extreme authoritarianism and restriction of individual liberties do not.

Very true. I wouldn't want to live the way they do- but that's their choice.
Many in our society don't seem to realize how fortunate they are. They take for granted the freedoms & liberties we enjoy here and are shocked when they see an example of how those things are non-existent in many parts of the world....
....then they do as they're told and vote for a more authoritarian form of government.

In other words, you don't know what a city-state is.

I remember my dad visiting Singapore when i was a kid. His company gave him their little rulebook before going, and he said everybody got one as soon as they got off the plane. There was like a chart listing offenses on one side and punishment on the other. Chewing gum was either one or a few whacks from the Rotan. As a kid who liked gum, i was terrified.
