I coached my son's baseball team a couple of years ago but I know very little about soccer. I'll be coaching my 6 and 7 yo's team.
TIA.

Soccer board answer- Get a book on youth soccer drills.
OT answer- Make sure your son doesn’t catch the gay.

Develop thick skin for when you're inevitably blown up on Facebook by soccer parents.

No offense, but I don't have or need social media.

I wish we had pm's. I've got a good friend that works with the youth teams for one of the MLS teams. He'd be the perfect person to answer your questions.
Hearding cats definitely sounds familiar.

They’re U8. Just tell them to go run around and try to kick the ball into the other teams goal. That’s all they’ll be doing anyways at that age

You might not, but they all will.

"If you talk while I'm speaking, throw water at break, or cut up during drills, you will run 'till you vomit. Am I clear? Run - until - you - vomit. And that will be your trophy."

Don't do it and if you do ban parents from attending practice.

Make it fun. Teach them not to toe kick the ball. Teach them the fundamentals like a proper throw in. Don't make them run laps. Make it fun.

Yep did it once and all I did call squirrel and make them pay attention which was fruitless.

I did it once for u10. Apparently you aren't supposed to tell at them and make them cry. I lasted one season.

shape and spacing.
you'll probably want to play a 4-3-3 which is 4 at the back, three in midfield and 3 up front.
they're not going to understand strategy, so you need to get them to stay in their designated third of the pitch, and use passes to open up the other thirds.
put your most athletic and energetic guys in the middle, your biggest and strongest up front, and the rest on defense and in goal.
teach them to know where the ball is at all times, challenge them with juggling and dribbling around cones, and they should all learn proper defensive techniques like: stance, watching the center of the chest, not the feet or ball, etc.
i think you've got it from here, right?
also, rotate your guys around and see who's a natural fit where. at this age, your best players should be in the middle in each third.
