At some point Shreveporters figured out you didn't have to pretend to be Dallas, you could just move there.

No it's not. It doesn't go north of I-20 and connect with the portion along I-220 up into Arkansas.

I wonder if things will grow in south & east Bossier Parish and north Desoto when I-69 comes through

This is what I was referring to, I was under the impression, at least the past year or two, that there was a small stretch that was imcomplete through a certain neighborhood that was fighting it, so you had to get off i49 and go to 220 to continue north on I-49.

This is also what I am interested in. How soon is this projected to begin? Is it going to connect Stonewall/South Shreve to I-20/220 (220, at least in a roundabout way. If the plans I saw where accurate it sort of will be a completion of the loop. For some reason I thought that they left the 3 way stop at the end of 3132 to eventually extend that, maybe it will extend to I-69 one day.

Edit: Not necessarily Shreveport related, but there was talk of an I-14 going west and east through Cenla connected with 49 and going east to Natchez. Both I-69 and I-14 would be dramatic infrastructural improvements for driving in the Central and Northern regions of the State. I must commend Shreveport on their interstate planning though, they are at least trying to emulate their nearby Texan's Interstates.

That's the neighborhood that was on the last "Wealthiest neighborhood in Louisiana by zip code" list from a few years back.

Glorification of violence in Louisiana/ U.S. pop culture certainly hasn't helped matters. Claiming the title of the "Ratchet City" is bound to lead to a misguided pride in that. But I will say I have been around Jackson some and I was very surprised how nice the suburbs were. And, I will admit that it actually appears that Mississippi at least tries to set up good interstate systems, so you got us beat there.

Cedar Grove

I almost mentioned this. I've lived in BR, Nola and Shreveport and I'd put Cedar Grove up against any hood in the State as far as sketchiness goes.

Cracks me up when people visit Shreveport, go to the absolute worst recommendation of a hotel or restaurant, and then say it sucks. “Yeah my oilfield baw told me that the coolest place in town is at the el dorado casino.” Well no shite dumb frick casinos are filled with scum and you’re gonna extrapolate that for the entire population? Never mind talking to a local who has lived there their whole life and can refer you to some restaurants and locations off the beaten path for fun. fricks sakes...

Most people who graduate their residency programs at LSUHSC GTFO ASAP. I wonder how brain drain post residency compares to other cities with large academic medical centers. I would guess it’s higher.

Yeah, I went to school there for 4 years in the mid 90s. You couldn't pay me to go back there, especially still knowing a few people that sill live there who tell me how much worse it is now.

Lived here all my life, place it terrible. We moved south to Stonewall to get out of the city and parish. Job market is zilch. only jobs you can find are service industry and fast food. Nothing to do there with your kids.

My wife's parents both worked for AT&T and they were laid off in the late 90s I believe. GM up and left, Exide shut down following an employee strike. (Employee's decided to strike for more money, so they shut the plant down and moved it), Libby Glass gone.

Hamel's Park as been gone for years, Water Town is a shithole, you put your kid's life in danger taking them to a park. I will not let my child go with me to a Walmart cause they are all shady as hell. Shreveport it not the place I grew up in during the 80s.

I've been saying for years, Shreveport is going to be the new Detroit. This area is bad. Only reason we are staying around here is to take care of elderly parents or we would be gone.
