Good!

It might start to deter people from suing over their ice cream melting too fast. Our society is so litigious it is disgusting.

Start putting in place rules like CPAs have for C-level positions?

Love it.

You are assuming that bar exam performance parallels competency in practice, which it doesn't. I think something similar to medical residency would be the better option.

Prob the best option would be if LADB and ODC actually did their jobs. Could thin the herd real quick if they did.

just feel like existing lawyers would want to rally together to make the bar exam much harder.

We (or most) don’t care. Pass and move on.

California bar overall pass rate is less than 50% (all test takers regardless of how many times taken). Still tons of lawyers in Cali.

It was right above 50% when I took it in July (TN). What’s the scaled Multistate national average, 65%? That alone shows that it’s a pretty difficult test.

Couldn’t agree more. The bar exam is about dedication and persistence. If you simply put in the time, you’ll pass. The amount of information that you’re responsible for knowing is shocking. That said, if you’re able to take the time off and dedicate 6-8 weeks to it, most should pass.

That said, it’s absolutely nothing remotely like the practice of law. Way to go Board of Law Examiners!

LA has the allegedly second hardest bar exam behind California. Take it from someone who took it. It’s not about the bar being easy by ANY means.

Make it an apprenticeship prior to being barred.

4 years of experience, then take the bar and get your license.

The bar exam is hard enough, the key is to eliminating a law school. We have 4 law schools for a relatively small state, which is too many. We have only three medical schools (and two are really the same just in different parts of the state). One law school needs to go. Any guesses which one?

I'm thinking nationally.

I like the idea of 4 years of law school, a harder bar, and 3 years apprenticeship/residency required.

When all of our needs and wants can be filled through automation, people will flock to bullshite jobs to justify their existence. And there's no more bullshite job in the world than being a lawyer, it's going to get much worse.

Thats pussy shite

Bar Exam pass rate for first time takers is 74.37%

CPA exam pass rate for first time takers is 21%

That is a little ridiculous considering

Four years of law school

Outside of a bar class or two the third year is absolutely worthless.

The market is already correcting itself- law school admissions have been dropping for years now.

What would be the 4L curriculum? What subjects are the graduates missing? For 99% of law students, a 4L year would be a waste of time and money. If you haven't learned to write and think like a lawyer in 3 years a 4th won't matter.
