i thought they raised it to 3.0 and 26 (or something close to that) last year?

Why would they leave? Louisiana is the shite. Can't find another state with cheap gas/cigarettes/crawfish. Don't even get me started on the creel limits.

End the program and it's a moot point.

Cigarettes are $8 a pack baw! that ain't cheap.

Don't go to the rouses. It's murder. I buy mine from my homies at the shell. 6.50. It actually blows my mind that cigarettes at rouses are more expensive there than my go to bar.

When this conversation inevitably comes up every year, the same solution comes to my mind. Make TOPS a loan that is forgiven once you graduate. I'm sure we would frick up the process of having loans paid back and such, but I think it would be a solid start.

Maybe work towards making LA more appealing for college graduates to stay in voluntarily rather than trying to force them.

Not sure if the proposed bill was the best solution but there ought to be some incentives tied to TOPS that involve staying in state after graduation. Maybe TOPS covers half your tuition and you get reimbursed for the other half after working in the state for a minimum of five years.

One time deferment of 4 years to cover whatever grad school you want to do.
After that, move back or pay...with interest.
I just wonder the means available to recoup the money. 3rd party?

So force them to stay here and be under employed or unemployed? You guys are fricking geniuses I tell ya.

if they decide to move to another state, they would have to pay back TOPs.
Posted on 4/20/17 at 10:41 pm to GreatLakesTiger24
No. Make them pay for the first year and fully reimburse them during that first summer if all requirements are met. I would only do this for the first year as my guess is that's where the drain is on the system.

Ther shouldn't be a tops to begin with.
Posted on 4/20/17 at 10:45 pm to GreatLakesTiger24
Why? Is it their fault that the economy in LA is terrible? So we don't want to pay to educate our college students unless they stay in shitty Louisiana?

Why?
why should the louisiana taxpayers subsidize the education of texas' workforce?

Change the eligibility requirements. Work on bringing other companies to the state outside of O&G. What ROI would they provide if the only jobs they can get are shite compared to Texas or other southern states?
