So, the son should have stood by and watched his mother be murdered?

Cool.

Why not?

Because smacking mama across the chops isn't necessarily a death penalty offense, and even if it is, you aren't allowed to carry it out. Not without being charged.

Stanley Washington showed up at their Bronx apartment and began fighting with her around 4:30 a.m. Monday, reports the New York Post. Moux’s mother, Lorena Sesma, 37, was cornered in her apartment, where Washington began beating her. Moux heard the commotion from his bedroom and ran to his mother’s aid.

this is the part where you shoot the dude in the face.

People need to understand that sometimes charges and prosecution are undertaken as a deterrent for future crimes. I highly doubt the prosecutor even wants to convict this guy, but if they do what many in this thread seem to want, not charge and give the guy a medal, then it's kind of open season on abusers, isn't it?

That's okay in one sense, as many abusers should have their heads caved in, but the law proscribes that police do the caving in, if that needs to happen. Giving the kid a medal and the key to the city is a recipe for having a lot of murders that aren't justified like this one seems to be.
Do you apply this same logic to anyone who takes a life in the defense of another life?

Defending someone against a possible fatal attack is an acceptable course of action and isn't murder.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but they're going to charge you with something more often than not just to keep the public from going vigilante.

A trial would be a complete waste of time. No one is going to convict a kid for that. He deserves a medal

Pretty much, yes.

I was told in my concealed carry class that if I ever used my weapon, I can pretty much bet on being charged, and that I had better hope it's found that someone's life was in imminent danger, or it would mean prison. Of course, my state has no castle law, or the like. I can't use my pistol to stop a robbery, someone fleeing a crime, etc.

I applaud what this kid did, but making a hero of him would have idiots thinking they are justified in killing someone when the situation is entirely different.

Another reason why jury nullification should be included as apart of every jurys instructions

Sentence him to serving as a deputy, swear him in and send him out on domestic disputes where there is a history of one spouse beating the other. Everyone, that's decent, wins.

Surprised Laramy Tunsil didn't do the same to his stepdad when he started talking about agents.

actually know someone who was in a similar situation. adult son, mom and dad were divorced. walked in on the dad beating the mom. grabbed the dad in a choke hold from behind. dad had a bad heart. died right there. went to court, acquitted on all charges.
