this is a problematic way of looking at liberty and government power. what's the use of keeping it illegal?
Changing is always harder than keeping something the same.....You have to have an incentive to change. I imagine the inability or unwillingness of people who want to legalize weed to realize this is the reason it is still mostly illegal today.

not when you make it very expensive with an outrageous sin tax.
My proposal was only slightly higher than what we tax cigarettes now.....it will be higher than the cigarette tax if it ever gets legalized in this state. However like I said that is where I would start negotiations.

Legalize it only in casinos. That way, the religious folks can pseudo-oppose it, while reaping the tax benefits.
And we can see how much they truly "hate" it if they stop going to the nickel machines three times/week.

WHY legalize when JBE can just raise the shite out of taxes instead

From a guy who's lived in Colorado nearly four years. I gotta say, the legalized weed has been working well, at least for me it has. Just don't forget to bring a towel.

Agreed, but lawmakers know and you should too that it will never sell as "We should be able to do what we want". Here at least. Got to feed the voters the "But just think of what we could fix with all the extra revenue" line of BS.

Absolutely. Beats raising our taxes again and again but somehow this state would still frick it up

Doesn't it make sense to tax weed more than tobacco?
Explain this one lol.

We absolutely should, regardless of the moral issue, we can not afford to miss out on the taxes. Having said that, if I know my state like I do, we will legalize it after all the other states have done so and capitalized.
