Does a DWI make her unable to do her job? No, so why resign?

It's not cancel culture to not want a criminal as a public servant.
Plus, her crashing is the reason the rest of us that drive at .08 could end up in jail.
This. A DUI is a huge red flag for most employers, especially a recent one. In addition, she wasn’t anywhere near the line. She was .144, aka smashed. She’ll be facing up to $20k in fines, 6 months suspended license, 2 years probation, and prison time. She’s lucky she didn’t kill anyone.
I have a lot of problems with how DUI’s are often enforced, but this is a textbook case where she needed to be off the road.

Suspended license and a prison sentence during the legislative session

What does a suspended license have to do with her job? And will she have a prison sentence during session?
Posted on 3/5/20 at 11:25 am to motherFNtigah
Why should it even be a choice? That seems like as easy of a slam dunk law to pass as anything.

It looks bad and is irresponsible and illegal. But the fact is it has no bearing in on her job (yet). So unless the people she represents call for her to resign, why should she? If you get a speeding ticket, you broke the law. Should you resign? I understand DUI is greater than a speeding ticket, but if her constituents don’t care, then it’s not affecting her ability to do her job.

This is what you get for driving under the influence. Has nothing to do with passing on someone. Grow up dude.

Anyone who would get that drunk and drive when they have the option and apparently the means to get an Uber/Lyft is demonstrating they don't have the decision making ability to be an elected official. I don't think a DWI/DUI should cause people to lose most jobs, but there are other jobs that would make me reconsider whether that person is the best person for the job.

So while she was drunk, she made a bad decision in her life, so that means she can’t make a good decision in session while sober.

You are correct, but unless her constituents recall her, you cannot fire her. So why would she resign on her own?

She should resign. I’m sure she won’t have any repercussions for the offense because she has a good lawyer. But she shouldnt be in Congress and act above the law. Bring her down.

Didn’t Brandon misuse a bunch of funds and get arrested before? Is that really the only other option?

at least she looks remorseful in her mug shot

Depends. Is she a D or R?
If she is a D, she will get away with it, and can do it over and over. Hell, she could kill someone driving drunk at it would be OK.
If she is an R, she must resign immediately.

Yes. Why should she get to make/vote on laws for us to follow and yet not be able to follow the law herself?
