Should Jefferson Parish change its name

If we are taking down monuments that are racially insensitive, should it not be demanded that Jefferson Parish change its name? Jefferson Parish was named after a known slave owner, Thomas Jefferson. I for one can not imagine what it must be like for little children to grow up in a parish that is named after a slave owner. The very fact that this is the case must cause these youngsters to feel inferior to their white counterparts.

Absolutely! Jefferson as in Jefferson Davis. How can they name it after the president of the CSA? I'm literally shaking right now. I can't even.

Just tell them it's named after George Jefferson. Problem solved. Kids are dumb. They'll believe anything.

I was told that over 25% of black Americans are part of Thomas Jefferson's lineage.
So why would they want to change the name they honors their great-great-great grandfather?

We need to rename the state of Louisiana. It's named after the racist King Louis XIV who brought slavery to the New World when he enacted the Code Noire! We also need to destroy any city that was involved in slavery, because those cities are obviously racist!

Expanding the scope a little, we need to get rid of everything that references George Washington too. I'm talking nationwide. We need to shut down Mt. Vernon too. Went a few years ago and they had the audacity to have a slave quarters exhibit on the grounds. I'm still traumatized to this day.
