Should I not tip at Chilli’s?

I don’t like Chilli’s but I’m at a work event today and needed a close place to eat lunch alone and kill 45 mins.
I came in, sat myself, a girl came to bring me water. I ordered off of a touch screen at the table, a different person brought me my food. Nobody checked on me, when I was done I paid via the touch screen.
I tipped 20% like I normally do but feel like I shouldn’t have, I mean the only person that really did anything was the chef, I worked harder than the server, whoever that was.

That would cause me to tip lower than 20%

Not to derail, but I wish more restaurants would have the kiosk at the table and pay whenever you’re ready. Nothing worse than being ready to go but no waiter to be found.

They could have been understaffed, but for that level of service I wouldn’t have tipped.

I think you were in 10% tip territory.

I think you’re seeing why more don’t, people feel less inclined to tip.

I tip 10% for counter service. I consider that counter service. If drinks refilled and they check on me that bumps up to 18-20%.
I really don't like all the "trendy" counter service places that have the tip pop up. "The screen is going to ask you a question" then they flip the screen and the options are. "18.5%, 20% 25%" and I have to fill my own drink and pick my food up at the counter?

You normally tip 20% when nobody checks on you?

This. Just tip 10% so you don’t feel bad, but they shouldn’t get much more..

Yeah it reminds me of the “waiters” at piccadilly. Like i literally just brought all my food and drink to the table and am ready to eat. No i dont need anything as she will immediately come talk for 30seconds.
Look lady I literally just grabbed everything i wanted and am mid bite. frick off.
With that said, im not a total a-hole. I leave a couple 1’s for sure. In OP’s situation, id have left a couple 1’s as well.

Why in the world would you tip 20% if no one even checked on you during your meal?
If I had service that shitty, I might not tip at all. At the very most, a dollar or two and call it a day.

If you pay cash, there is no reason to turn the screen so it can "arse you uh qwushten".

The real question is “Should I not go to Chili’s?” and the answer is yes.

I usually tip a little, but I went to Torchys last night. My order was 2 tacos and a drink... $14 and the register asked if I wanted to tip on top of that when it's all self serve.
Predictably, the high prices affect the lowest paid workers again.

I down voted only because you said the word chef in the same paragraph as Chili's

What was you total bill?
15-20 bucks
Based on your description of the event and service provided, leave $2 on the table on your way out
