Not the worst idea. Jump on Earhart go to Carrollton....hang a left on Claiborne and you're there. Maybe 20 minutes

I live in Bucktown and commute to LSU-NOLA daily. It takes around 10-15 minutes before 7am and around 15-20 after traffic picks up. Very safe area, can walk/run to the levee for exercise, and lots of good food nearby. I’m not sure about the school options.

I'd live somewhere in St. Charles Parish. Either Luling/Destrehan area.

At least come visit BSL once…I commuted to the city for work for years, but old Hwy 90 was open then. That route was longer, but very cool. The commute isn’t ideal, but the town sure is.

I know you’re the OT’s Nola apologist for some reason but what are you even arguing here? That NOPD response times are good?

Dallas is huge; highways, freeways, turnpikes are a maze. But get off them and into good neighborhoods and bedroom communities, DFW is not a bad place at all. Good schools, infrastructure good, services good, safety is a plus, and lots going on in and around. As a native NOLA ex-pat, My city of birth has seen its day, and that day is now long gone.

I work at the University and am raising a family in the Navarre area (mid-city edge of lakeview.) Kids go to mix of Willow/private until the youngest hopefully also goes to Willow (will still need to test in even with tulane connection).

Be smart, and don't listen to these chicken littles. We love our area. Yes, it's a city and it has crime and a litany of frustrations to contend with. But as someone who grew up there, I would likely go insane on the Northshore these days, and certainly am not looking to move to Metairie. Find your pocket and you'll be good.

1) Harahan
2) Old Metairie
3) Bucktown
4) Northshore
5) Chalmette
6) River Ridge
7) Lulu g

One thing Nola will always have that Dallas will never have is a very unique specific singular culture.

Sure Dallas has cultures from all over the world. Too much of a melting pot. The transplants ruined any sense of a specific culture. There’s no single cuisine, no single music sound. Nothing coming out of Dallas that makes it stand out.

Nola has plenty of cons but the few pros it does come with are very significant. I’ve always said Nola is a great place to live and even raise a family if you have money. If you’re middle class or lower, stick to the soulless sprawl of Dallas or Houston.

New Orleans ex-pats can bring the unique aspects of NOLA culture with them, wherever they may live. Cooking, music, style travels and relocates well within the individual ex-pat household. Plus in DFW (for example) you can have your New Orleans self-image live on, in your own home or family and without the ubiquitous ignorance, crime, potholes, drunkenness, political corruption that go hand in glove with actually being surrounded by our “unique culture.”

Yes that’s for sure! You can see a lot of that diaspora in Dallas Houston and coastal Mississippi. You just bring it with you wherever you go.

The amount of Louisiana influence around Houston has really surprised me. I figured there’d be plenty of transplants due to proximity but at times it seems like it’s every other person I meet is either from there or parents are from there. You see it in the grocery stores. They carry so many Louisiana products. It’s everywhere.

He was claiming that he was moving out but I guess that didn’t work out so back to playing defense to the overwhelming amount of negativity reported about the city. He voted for Latoya too.

It’s Wild West in Nola.
Dude got shot in broad daylight on the sidewalk in the CBD last week after shooter stole visitors truck. Police are Mia.

Why anyone would stay and support that kind of mayhem ?

When did I say I was moving out?

I’ve never said I was moving out.

I’ve never even put my house on the market

We will eventually move but that that’s a long way out.

But keep stalking me and I’ll keep you posted

Plenty of Louisiana people in Mansfield/DFW. My block alone, besides me and my wife, there are two houses across the street with LA natives there (Monroe, BR, Laffy, and us NOLAs). Plus alot of LSU fans and alums. Go to the supermarket, lots of LA products kept in stock. These peeps no strangers to our way of life. You can even buy Gambino king cakes at these stores - not the best, but better than none.

Police have already arrested the shooter and two accomplices. That said, dipshit NOPD had been tracking the truck for a week before the crime. I assume in an attempt to catch bigger fish. Either way, Landry is sending in LSP and I’ve noticed NOPD getting more aggressive under the new Superintendent…so here’s to hoping things change a bit.

Navarre is a nice area. I’ve noticed homes in Lakeview popping up at the $500k and less range. Bucktown is a good option. Old Metairie isn’t feasible for less than $1m these days, or so it seems. Prices are stupid there.
