No, it's much better to live as a V.I.W. (Victim-In-Waiting).

On a serious note: As someone who has investigated violent crimes...you are crazy if you do not take the proper steps to protect yourself.

Cops are not going to get there in time to protect you or your family. The only one you can rely on to protect you and your family....is you. Cops only investigate your success and failure at that.

You should only get a gun if you and your wife both know how to handle it safely and responsibly.

Should I said freak her and buy it or should I get a pellet gun. I seen videos on YouTube that a pellet gun can still cause some damage and saw where people shot in the head had to learn how to walk and talk all over again.

Never been a fan of gun control... Till now.

Jesus Christ grow a pair and just go buy a real gun.

I just faced the same deal. Its easier to ask for forgiveness later so i surprised her with a AR-15 .300 blackout a couple of weeks ago. I showed my son what it was and we had a come to Jesus meeting about who is allowed to touch it when it is out. I keep it in a case with a lock on it just to be safe, but when it's out I show him what it is and explain everything to him. I think it is better to educate the kid rather than make them scared. That way it lessens the curiosity when they are older and able to get in to things they aren't supposed to.

This may have been suggested, but how about getting an alarm on the home?

Just don't keep one in the chamber and when your kid gets older teach him/her to respect guns in the same way they should respect not walking into traffic.

And your wife is not the protector so to hell with her opinion on this issue.

I'm certainly not a gun control freak, I'm fine with firearms and shoot myself for fun. That said, if you are seriously worried about a home invasion, move to a safer place with better neighbors.

Living even in the nicest neighborhood is no guarantee. I just saw this story tonight and posted it in another thread....

LINK

Guy lived in one of the biggest and most upscale subdivisions in one of the most upscale cities in the state. None of that stopped him from being shot and killed in his own front yard by some piece of shite thug.

The problem is if you live in the Baton Rouge area, no matter where you live the criminals will find their way to you. My mom lives in Santa Maria (deemed a nice safe area by most) and recently a lady down the street was robbed at gun point and pistol whipped while her kids sat in the car and watched. This isn't the first robbery instance either. The problem is criminals have means of transportation and all though they don't live in your neighborhood they can and will pay your area a "visit".

Let me tie this thread up. When they come for you, and they will. Unless you are going to throw your wife at them, get a shotgun.

Get a s&w 29 .44 magnum. No such thing as too much firepwer. Then when you and your wife decide y'all don't like it you can sell it to me.
