I can’t name one positive thing about Shreveport

1. Public schools that you 100% can send your kids.
2. Way better traffic with the loop. You can get anywhere in basically 15 min.
3. Decent food of all types. Southern, Cajun, Asian, Mexican, Hawaiian, BBQ. Fat Calf was a USA Today Top 100 Restaurant in America.
4. Awesome venues to see live music. Noble Savage, Louisiana Grand Stand, Municipal Auditorium, Strand Theater
5. Aquarium, Norton Art Gallery (both inside and out), Car Museum
6. Great Raft Brewery, Mug Bugs Hockey Games
7. Red River Revel, Crawfest, Mardi Gras, Highland Blues Festival, James Burton Guitar Festival,
8. Many parks host Movie Nights for adults or children with food trucks.
9. Incredible farmers market
10. Multiple Historic Churches that are still very active. Holy Trinity and First Baptist.

Now I'm not saying that Shreveport is a Utopian society, but there's so much more than you see from the interstate.

Sounds like you stayed by the airport. If you stayed on the west side of town, Pine’s Road, that’s not really “ghetto”.

I always suggest travelers stay at the Marriott Courtyard in Bossier. Downtown Bossier is walkable and pretty awesome.

Where did you stay?

Edit: I am reading that this jackass picked one of the sketchiest parts of town to go to a liquor store at 10pm

Hey why don’t you just go ahead and take a vacation to LA and stay in fricking Compton

No, Shrevesville is not all ghetto but it has fallen ever since they stopped voting in white Mayors.

The current mayor is white, I would argue that Magnet schools have ruined the city. When “decent” folks send their kids halfway across the city on the taxpayers dime, the neighborhood schools get whats left, then new families don’t want to move to neighborhoods with terrible schools, west Shreveport used to be a very nice area but the Magnet Schools caused Turner and Huntington to become absolute hellholes.

Oh and as the rest of the state is doing away with traffic cameras, Caddo Parish is wanting to add more.

I held out hope for many years but when I retire, I am out.

No, basically it boils down to…people just like to bitch & complain about anything. Same thing can happen anywhere. There are numerous decent & nice hotels to stay-in around SBC. It’s really not that hard.

I've stayed at the Hampton behind Texas Roadhouse in Bossier a few times and the Comfort Inn at I-49 and Burnt Kouns a few times. Never felt unsafe in those areas.

People drive through Shreveport and base the entirety of their opinion off of shady interstate-side hotels and gas stations. God forbid you stay in the hotel by Whole Foods, or the Hilton at the convention center. People book a room at the Crackbaby Inn and Suites, see a gangbanger at a gas station and then conclude that the whole town sucks.

General rule. Avoid hotels with church's chicken in the area. Choose hotels with Panera Bread in the area.

Worst food in Louisiana. Even worse than Monroe.

You not wasting space or oxygen there is a definite plus for those that live there.

The smooth-brained surface-level thinkers will never get that Shreveport does have quite a few great restaurant/bar locations if you speak with the locals. And crime is much more geographically concentrated compared to places like Memphis or New Orleans.

We survived… vehicle also made it without being broken into, now we are getting the heck out of here! Lesson learned, will avoid Shreveport now!
We have a good story to tell now.

Also stopped at Hollywood Liquor last night around 10pm, I thought it was weird that you couldn’t go inside and has to go through a drive thru

Now leaving during the daylight. There are a lot of beauty supply stores and bars on windows!

This has to be a troll, seriously. Any southern US city this type of thing is easy to find, just take a drive down I10, or go up to Jackson, Memphis or Little Rock.

Stopped at Hollywood Liquor last night arount 10 PM lol, lucky you are alive. In Shreveport you have to go looking for trouble unless you live in a sketch area and deal in drugs or like to get involved in domestic violence skirmishes, you are not likely to be in any danger. Stay out by the airport or along that I220 corridor and have your head on a swivel.

If you want something to eat, hit the Youree Dr. corridor, 70th east of Line Ave, Line Ave corridor south of 70th or Ellerbe rd near Flournoy Lucas and beyond. Plenty of good safe places to live or stay and restaurants that would be good wherever you stick them.

The amount of people who live in shite places shitting on other shite places is hilarious.

Is 50 Cent still the king of Shreveport, or did that deal fizzle out?

Get away from the interstate if youre staying in Shreveport/Bossier.

Particularly West Shreveport.
