You never stay at a hotel in ANY CITY OFF THE INTERSTATE OR FREEWAY!!!!! No, Shrevesville is not all ghetto but it has fallen ever since they stopped voting in white Mayors. Sad but true. Corruption in that city is insane. BTW, I've heard the same thing about Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, ghetto!!

I tell everyone now to stay at the new Home2Suites by Whole Foods nowadays.

The Wyndham across the street will be ready any day now

Plenty of nice areas/hotels in Shreveport, but not many options that you can see from Interstate.

Casinos are still fine, and on a Tuesday, you should be able to get a cheap rate. As said above, Live! just opened, Margaritaville is the next newest.

my company had a booth at the Louisiana State fair in Shreveport a few years back. That was the craziest people watching ive ever had. I should have set up a camera all day.

No, basically it boils down to…people just like to bitch & complain about anything. Same thing can happen anywhere. There are numerous decent & nice hotels to stay-in around SBC. It’s really not that hard.

We survived… vehicle also made it without being broken into, now we are getting the heck out of here! Lesson learned, will avoid Shreveport now!
We have a good story to tell now.

Also stopped at Hollywood Liquor last night around 10pm, I thought it was weird that you couldn’t go inside and has to go through a drive thru

Now leaving during the daylight. There are a lot of beauty supply stores and bars on windows!

Oh I know. I've inadvertently stayed at sketchy hotels in several cities. Most recently it was Dallas.

And never did I think to label the entire city as shitty/ghetto. I just blamed myself for not doing enough research.

Take Boise for example. They have the Boise River, which by our standards is basically a wide creek. However, they have dumped money into the infrastructure around the river for decades to make it a feature of living in Boise. There's a greenbelt, sandbars, parks, dog parks, food trucks, commercial real estate, and beautification all along it. People float it in the summer, fish it year-round, etc. When something is going to change, it's a big deal. There are meetings, the local publications write about it, people will bring it up in conversation. I rarely see that sort of thing down here and it's sad. The waterways here have a lot more potential if people would treat things nice and not make an arse of themselves in public. This is not specific to one demographic, because throughout my life I've seen plenty of white people making an arse of themselves on boats on Kincaid Lake.

Boise is high trust.
Shreveport is low trust.

That’s the final answer as to what’s different. Now, what causes the one to be high trust and the other to be low trust? That’s up for debate.

Jesus Christ. Brave soul. That is the definition of a lawless land.

Like Salmon said, I point people to the hotel behind Whole Foods for Shreveport and I send them to the Hampton on Viking Dr for Bossier.

The lesson here is to learn to use street view in Google Maps. You can tell a lot by looking at the neighborhood where something is located.

Now, that’s suspect as hell. You stay in sketch area & go to even sketchier liquor store…at 10pm. lol
Yeah Baw, if you form an opinion about an entire city by staying in a less than desirable area & then bitch about it on TD , then please…avoid Shreveport at all costs . You sound highly intelligent.

Exactly. It’s not like we don’t have a few Cracker Barrel’s sprinkled around for North La folks that get lost.
