Hometown Suites

Homewood Suites near I20/220?

If so that actually used to be one of the nicer hotels in that area. But it’s sandwiched in between 2 really, really bad neighborhoods.

“If I’m in that area for work, I always stay in Bossier.”

I grew up in bossier.. late 60-70s…. I find it interesting how people refer to bossier and bossier schools as the better part of town.. we were definitely the country mouses and Shreveport had the rich kids ( captain Shreve.. Byrd was old money etc)..Shreveport was they preferred area.. they were city we were country and Air Force brats.. I do realize that as you said bossier is better now.. and I also realize why.. just interesting how 30 years later one demographic destroyed an area while the other demographic improved it. We had mixed races ( I was part of the forced bussing change).. but the mixture were from different “classes “ not sure that is the right word .. of people..

Would make a nice social study case.

It’s 2025 and you’re just now discovering that Shreveport is ghetto?

the Boardwalk

That was one of the nicest commercial properties in Louisiana when it opened. Unfortunately, a bunch of annoying people started loitering and ran everyone off.

I graduated from Parkway in the early 90’s. Back then Benton and Haughton were country. Parkway was middle class. Bossier was poor kids. Airline were the rich kids.

Now there’s been a huge shift of people moving from Shreveport to Benton and Haughton. So there’s been a lot more money put into developing those areas.

You stayed near the airport? That is the most ghetto area of the town.

I always advise people to stay clear of the airport area.

“graduated from Parkway in”

Yay parkway panthers ..parkway 1976…. prior to that was an elm grove demon ( we actually voted on the mascot.. apparently we were devil worshipping… we got bussed there from parkway junior/senior high school as part of integration and parkway became only a high school).. shady grove resident.. was a nice life back then..

I have stayed at the Homewood/HGI at I-20, highway 71 interchange near Barksdale.

Felt safe enough to walk to the Texas Roadhouse nearby. Went to the Hooters on the Boardwalk and the area was dead.

This was about 4 yrs ago.

We were the last class to go through Elm Grove as the Demons for both years. They changed to the Eagles the summer after our 8th grade year.

That area is quite ghetto. If you plan on stopping there again stay at the Hilton. It’s the best option in town.

May have to stay there Tuesday night for basketball playoff game. Are any of the casinos decent now? Would like to stay at a casino and play some cards if possible.

They just opened Live Casino in Bossier last month. It looks pretty nice on the inside. Margaritaville is nice also.

HEY! It’s another…I drove through I-20 in Shreveport & it looks like shat thread. Yeah Baw, so does I-10 in Lafayette, BTR, Lake Chuck. I don’t live in Shreveport, but there some really nice areas. Sounds like you just stayed in a Motel 6 & regret your decision

It does suck for people traveling and don't know any better.

I have made several people (mostly coworkers) switch hotels once I realized they were staying near the airport.

I tell everyone now to stay at the new Home2Suites by Whole Foods nowadays.
