If you put the phrase "Arabic numerals" in a search engine, I would wager that you would find references to Western Arabic numerals only, with much fewer references to Eastern Arabic numerals.

Eastern Arabic numerals would refer to the numbering system that developed concurrently to the Western Arabic system. There were actually three numbering systems in West Asia at the time. The Western Arabic system was used for arithmetic, there was an informal business system used through the fingers, and the sexagesimal system with numerals denoted by letters of the Arabic alphabet. That's the systems that we know of at least. Though the systems were relatively independent, al-Uqlidisi wrote the earliest book which showcased what became the Western Arabic system, and developed a method by which teachers could obviate the need for a dust board, which precluded the wider adoption of the Western Arabic system.

In general, I'm fairly well-read in Islamic studies, and in general, Arabic numerals always refers to Western Arabic, as authors will directly refer to the term "Eastern Arabic numerals" if they are speaking of the separate system.

Except I called out those people in my first post.

I’m mostly railing at how the poll was at best lazily constructed, at worst deliberately made.

That’s a whole separate thing from the fact they used it on a fertile field of idiots. To be honest, I’m surprised the number is only just over 50%
