I doubt Jesus was trashy so I imagine he'd appreciate if his followers at least put in a little effort to not look trashy in his house.

You can't even make the effort proof read...who are you to judge. If a man is well to do, then he should probably clean "up and" dress nice for church. I grew up attending a Catholic Church near False River and there were plenty people coming from their camps wearing shorts. Also noticed this at LSU mass or if there was a fair going on.

Would you wear shorts to a job interview? I am no longer religious, but it seems like a respect thing.

I went to one of those non-denom hipster mega churches for Easter and I was the only one who look respectable in the house of the Lord. Even folks who go to church nowadays treat religion as a joke.
