Last year I watched a scholarly, middle aged man brazenly walk out of the Siegen location with a crawfish paddle and burner. One cashier yelled "stop him he's stealing" but nobody did anything. Another employee said "It's not my job to chase crackheads" and I tend to agree with him. It's Academy's responsibility to keep their stores secure.

Bought a couple pairs of shoes at Academy in Ellick Tuesday.Cashier took the shoes out of box, removed the cardboard insert that holds the shape, looked inside the shoe.
Recently I was at WalMart at the self checkout.I was looking at an older man, looked pretty prosperous, clean cut.Watched him steal 3 apples. They were in produce bag, took them out of cart and dropped them in bag with other items without paying.
Lot of disgusting people.

I would fully support a law allowing stores to use a guillotine in the parking lot for shoplifting. Tax breaks if you live stream it.

The best is when you open up a shoe box and someone's old crusty shoes are in there instead.

There was a segment on national news about scamming at self checkouts. The criminals make UPC stickers that they put over the real UPC. Then they scan the item at the self checkout for a greatly reduced price.

He snapped a picture of your plate and will be at your house soon

I couldn't carry the pot with all the other stuff. Sorry.

Gonna load up on some $0.39/lb ribeye this weekend. Just kidding

It really depends on where they are located.
There is an academy in the burb that I live in (outside of Memphis).
There are shoplifters that try and take stuff and the cops in this burb catch pretty much all of them. They are very serious about it. All of them try and run to Memphis but they never make it.

Shoplifting is apparently rampant at the Northside Academy in Lafayette. The manager said slides (sandals) are the most stolen item.
I'm hoping the new Bucees being built near there has adequate measures in place to limit theft

It’s pretty messed up that regular joes feel more of a sense of outrage about shoplifting than the corporations do—enough so that their instinct and sense of justice often override their job stability. I worked at Kmart as a teen and not only would loss prevention tackle a motherfricker, but they’d enlist the help of us high schoolers as well.

Pretty dumb... BRPD and Academy don't care

there something about Academy that attracts this? A certain product or a “don’t give a shite” attitude from the employees?
Friends of ours in an Academy Manger (Florida) & they can’t do a thing but report it

I think it was at Academy that they fired a manager for trying to stop a shoplifter
Ever since then, I just walk out with my pro v1s

"Corporations" care about one thing, profits .They research the amount they lose / cost of defense in liability lawsuits vs how much their shrinkage is at the end of the year. Victoria Secret fires a manager if an employee tries to stop a shop lifter. Or used to anyway, not sure if it's still a store policy.
