I would not put too much emphasis on this one

What about the 5 shot on Bourbon last night? Or the people shot in traffic on I-10? Outliers?

I bring my kids to Alexander’s Market all the time. The WAFB article makes it sound like he shot a random mother and daughter while trying to steal a car. Stuff like this is becoming all too common.

This one is very close to home. We do 90% of our shopping at Alexander’s. Was actually debating on heading there this morning to get more buttermilk for pancakes around that time. Decided just to make a half batch and use what buttermilk I had left. Would have taken my 3 year old with me……

Looks like this all started in neighborhood by Dunham ( John Newcombe Avenue) which I believe is not future St. George…. Build the wall….

Deputies say the man then fled to an area near the Alexander’s supermarket off Highland Road near I-10 where he attempted to steal a vehicle. He is accused of shooting three people there, including a mother and daughter who were in a vehicle, authorities said.
I hope he survives, just so that he can get his arse beat in Angola daily

Guy was shot by EBR sheriff officer so I’m sure the city will pay him $5 million in a few years.

It's in St George. I grew up in that neighborhood and my parents are 4 houses down from the house.

The shooter is the grandson who was living there with his
grandmother who he killed .
Think the other person is his
Mom who had gone to pick them up for church . He left in his mom's car .
I talked to my friend next door.. She is across the street from murder.

Just got this info.

This appears to be Baton Rouge’s one WTF murder of the year, similar to the kid killing his dad off George ONeal and the dude who killed his wife and kids off South Harrell’s Ferry and then just drove around.

Every year we have one or two murders that are outliers and seem totally random in spots that don’t see that kind of violence.

The Vietnamese girl that was gunned down off of Lobdell a few years back, comes to mind as well.

I am the same age and went to the same schools and grew up in the same area as sec13etal. Our childhood was zero crime. Perfectly safe all the time. BR is vastly different now. Up until the past 5 years I was not even scared to cautiously go through "bad areas" of BR. Now I am becoming concerned in the "good areas" of BR. (Same with Nola). Woman's hospital has a medical detector now. We were all born there and had our kids there but that is not what I want for my grandchildren. We are moving to a low crime area out of state as soon as my husbands company finishes a new realignment and gives us the go ahead to move (should be within a year).

I'm 43 and certainly remember when BR was vastly different than it is now.

I understand your sentiment - but there’s no reason to live scared. I guess because I grew up in the city of NOLA (and spent a few years along the border in south Texas) - I’m not going to let some stupid punk scare me into not shopping

Am I tired of living in crime and drug ridden communities, hell yes, but I can’t stop living my life.

As for my husband - he doesn’t like change and that’s why we haven’t moved, and he grew up in a place where his parents started locking the doors maybe 5 years ago

As for metal detectors - the first time I was ever swiped by one was in the 1990s on the north shore when I took my brother to a high school football game. They weren’t even using them at tad gormley then
