Text to my buddy, “I moved here from Chicago to get away from these people and this shite”. Luckily I think/hope how we respond to this stuff down here is very different than how Chicago does.

ETA: For those who don’t know in Chicago this criminal would be released on his recognizance potentially with charges dropped because equity. Yet the same people who refuse to enforce the gun laws on the books also want more gun laws. Makes perfect sense, right?

Was that long hair blonde cop a female? Because it certainly looked like that cop was pretty useless in detaining the perp.

Derp derp.derppity deeerp deeerp.

Got no comeback available for this crap, and that's the best you can come up with?

Shows how dumb you are, and there is no defending culture no matter hard your little brain tries.

I keep trying to tell all y'all wanting to flee NOLA for Charleston that you are trading one hell for another.

well, that makes me sad. They've ruined Isle of Palms. I proposed to my wife there. We love that beach.

My wife and I honeymooned there and we try to go back every year - typically in the spring for our anniversary but sometimes in the summer.

It has always been really nice, quiet, and family friendly. We were there the week leading up to Father's Day last year and man has it changed post COVID. We saw a tranny with a beard in a two piece sun suit, and multiple ghetto chicks walking around in thongs with their big asses out for everyone to see.

I'm thinking when we go back we'll need to stay on Sullivan's Island.

Unless things have changed, short term rentals are not allowed there

That’s pretty much straight BS. This is the list sorted by violent crime. Charleston isn’t in the top 100, New Orleans is 15th with the highest murder rate in the country or close to it.

I found this separately about Charleston.

quote:

Violent Crime The chance that a person will be a victim of a violent crime in Charleston is 1 in 227 or a rate of 4 per 1,000 inhabitants. A violent crime is an armed robbery, aggravated assault, rape, or murder.

ETA: New Orleans violent crime rate is 1,121 per 100k, so basically 3x higher than Charleston.

Some schools have spring break the week before Easter, some the week after.

I grew up in Mt. Pleasant and we’ve always viewed IOP as the trashier of the 2 beaches East Cooper. At least front beach is. If you’re going to do IOP, rent a house well north of 30th.

Things have changed there since we used to hit IOP on the weekend or skipping school in the late 70's. Trust me, back then there was none of that trash around. They'd get their asses kicked.

That said, the demographics of Charleston overall has changed for the better since I grew up there. There's been massive investment (both residential and commercial/industrial), improved older neighborhoods, and higher income residents. I think this is an outlier.

Kinda makes you wanna get in the middle of the woods away from everything. Check.
