Last I heard (2014) this area was supposed to be an up and coming good part of Baton Rouge.. Springhill, Fairhill, new Walmart, new CVS, a multi-million dollar renovation to the baseball park, the casino, etc...
What's going on?

Insurance $, rebuild, continue.... the landlords love getting a check every month from the government rather than chasing deadbeat tenants for it.

At around 9:45 p.m., deputies responded to Walmart at 10550 Burbank Drive in reference to an unoccupied vehicle struck by gunfire, EBRSO spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.

So no one reported hearing the shots. It took some random customer finding bullet holes in their car to get the cops out there. Has gunfire become so common that it's background noise?

That's like building a new prison. After spending $Millions, the prisoners are still there.

but that area reeks from the sewage processing plant (the actual one, not EBR Parish Prison), so finding people to invest in that area is a tall task.

They have odor control devices. Just have to make EBR use them.

Didn't they just recently build that Wal-mart? And it's ghetto already. Smh.

And it's not the sewage plant (bad as that is) that makes the area trashy. I lived off Gardere in the early 80s when it was mostly LSU students and there was little crime. Same with Tigerland in the late 70s.

new Walmart

Its the worst thing they could have put there. Before, people from gardere and near the churchs chicken had no reason to go over there. Now, they fricking walk in the streets and cross bluebonnet just to go hang out at walmart.

There are few things in this world I loathe more than Walmart.

Prison > Sect 8

As far as what I'd rather live next to. They're probably similar on the inside.

While the residents of Gardere are naturally the first ones to point finger at this can also be some of the bad eggs of St. Gabriel.

Unless you're investing in a convenience store. There's got to be at least 10 in a 2 square mile area over there.
